About Rothan

I’ve been rolling dice in D&D since 2018 and stepped behind the screen as a Dungeon Master in 2022—and I haven’t looked back. While D&D 5e is my home base (especially grim settings like Drakkenheim), I’m actively expanding my toolkit. I’m deep in the rulebooks for Cyberpunk RED, Traveler, Pathfinder 2e, and the Star Wars FFG system because I believe the right system makes the story better. I’m here to run the game you want to play. I sit squarely at the crossroads of roleplay and combat. I love when a tense negotiation feels just as dangerous as a sword fight—I’ve had players sweating over Persuasion checks in a basement full of stolen contraband, knowing the wrong word meant a knife in the dark. My table is about moments. Whether it’s a paladin wrestling with their oath or a crew just trying to pay rent, I’m here to make sure your choices matter and the world reacts.

I became a GM because

It's a simple as I love storytelling. I love weave the backgrounds as the players pass through them. I always try and describe the setting in as much immense detail as possible so the players can really envision themselves in that setting.

My favorite books are

The PJO (Percy Jackson & the Olympians) I first read this series when I was in 5th grade. I read the lighting thief 3 -4 times before I even new there was a second book.

How Rothan runs games

Expect a table where the safety is on, but the tension is high. I lean into roleplay and character moments, but I run a world where conversations can—and do—turn into firefights or brawls. I had a one-shot where the party met the villain in the first hour... and they just offered him a spot on the team. The entire session flipped on its head, and that’s the energy I chase. I’m a fan of the Rule of Cool and I’m happy to homebrew when it makes the story more epic, but I know when to stick to the book to keep the game fair. My specialty is balance: story drives the action, but the dice drive the story. You can expect real consequences. If you let a lead go cold or spare the wrong person, it will echo. If you befriend the monster instead of killing it, the adventure pivots. I’m not here to punish you; I’m here to make sure the world feels like it’s listening.

Rules are...

Guidelines. Not end all be all. Sometimes they can be difficult to decipher and sometimes they don't exist at all. We can only try to adhere to them the best we can, however we need to be flexible. Times will call for an addition or a new rule all together.

Rothan's ideal table

My favorite table is when we can come together and enjoy the game. I want to you bring you in to the world, but its up to you what you do in it. I love seeing what players bring to the world. Weather is some rule-breaking item or a serious RP moment that leaves everyone awed over what just happened. Feel safe, Feel free, and most importantly feel creative.

I think metagaming...

Its inevitable just like Tony Stark and Thanos. It will always happen even when you don't mean for it to. So please don't stress over it. If it breaks the RP or the experience we can always roll it back or try fix it moving forward the most important thing is having fun.
