About Taylor Felicity

Hello! I have been GMing since 2018, and streaming games since 2020. I started off playing Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition (the game I started in 2018 is still going!) but have since become passionate about indie games, and have now run more than 60 different games. I love finding what kinds of stories each game tells well, and leaning in to that. As a GM, I love to incorporate people's backstories and character ideas, and usually base my games around those things. I'm also passionate about using safety tools and making sure everyone at the table is comfortable and having fun. My games usually have a humorous spin, but I enjoy including drama (and melodrama) in even the silliest of games. Outside of GMing, I love to cook, play video games, and am teaching myself video editing.

I became a GM because

I played my first game of D&D and couldn't stop thinking about it after the session ended. That group met very sporadically, and I knew I wanted to play more. I have continued being a GM because it's important to me that people have games where they feel celebrated and safe.

My favorite shows/movies are

Shows: Succession, Community, Search Party, Jet Lag: The Game and Delicious in Dungeon. Movies: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Where The Wild Things Are, The Apartment, Young Adult, anything Muppets

When I'm not running games I'm...

...collecting Pokemon cards (especially from the Fossil set and Dark/Team Rocket Pokemon), playing video games (currently a lot of House Flipper and hopefully soon some games on the Switch 2) and crafting (I recently learned how to needle felt)!

How Taylor Felicity runs games

My favorite games tend to be roleplay and story driven, and my GMing style has been described as "cinematic." I love working with players to determine what kind of narrative the table is looking for. I'm prone to humor at the table, but I think even humorous games benefit from high stakes and emotional weight. I'm not only happy to work with people new to TTRPGs, it's one of my favorite things to do! I love to teach people how to play new games, and am happy to explain things as many times as needed.

I prep by

...re-watching the previous session of the game and taking extensive notes that I share with the players in a recap. For narrative systems, I take note of any changes in an NPCs motivations and make bullet points of story beats/scenes. For tactical games, I prep stat blocks and get my VTT ready.

My games focus on...

big dramatic moments punctuated by big laughs. I tend toward light-hearted games with big stakes, both physical and emotional.

Rules are...

important to me! The rules of a game shape the experience and help the game run smoothly. When I'm running a game, the rules are the first thing I look to when I'm unsure what to do next. There are moments where the rules won't fit or have guidance, but I generally run games rules as written.

Taylor Felicity's ideal table

The vibes at my table are warm, inclusive, and silly. Players who like big dramatic moments, cozy vibes, and Muppet-style shenanigans will fit well at my table. I also take player safety very seriously. Players will enjoy my games if they are considerate of others at the table, and respect being told no, or asked to change actions based on player safety.

I love it when a player

gives me some things to work with in their backstory! I love when players have NPCs they care about built into their backstory, and you never know when those NPCs might show up again...

I think metagaming...

is not always a problem! As long as you're not hacking into my computer and reading my session notes, I don't mind if there's some bleed between character action and player knowledge.

My table is not the place for...

disregarding Safety Tools, being a fascist, or arguing about rules interpretations.
