About me
Hello Adventurers! I'm Jess, I've been DM'ing for about four years. I started off playing D&D 5e and branched out to running Mothership, MOTW and Kids on Bikes. I'm having lots of fun running a found-family Mothership campaign, inspired by the work of Tamsyn Muir, Aliette de Bodard and N.K. Jemisin.
GM Style
I’m a roleplay focused GM, which means I’m here to help you weave together unforgettable character moments into a story only you (and your fellow players) could tell. I always make time before a campaign to find out about your PC, and I'm endlessly delighted by the life players bring to the table. I excel at making creative, coherent settings to spark your imagination, designed to give your character the chance to make a difference; worlds populated by unique NPCs tailored to bring out the best (or the worst!) in your PCs. Don’t worry if you’re new to role-play or TTRPGs- it’s always a pleasure to work with newbies! If you arrive at the table familiar with the principles of Consent in Gaming, ready to collaborate with your fellow players, then honestly- you're ready to go! Together we can create something extraordinary. Please note: As a GM, I’m committed to running a table where we respect and support each other; I do this by maintaining group boundaries and upholding the use of safety tools, including “Lines and Veils”. I won’t allow inconsiderate behaviour toward me or your fellow players, and I have no tolerance for bigotry of any kind.

I play Monster of the Week with Jess and she is a fabulous Keeper. From our very first pre-game conversation she's been honest, supportive, funny, and kind. The story that we're telling is fun, but I'm most impressed by the details she gives a scene, putting you squarely in the moment so you can shine. If you want to up your role play game, she's the GM for you.
Jess is a wonderful storyteller and paints a scene beautifully. If you like playing in a world with emotional NPC interactions, puzzle solving, or interesting settings this is the game for you! I have had so much fun with my group. She is also very good at keeping the players safe and providing an inclusive environment. She will give warnings when players have overstepped boundaries. I have laughed, cried, and had outbursts of joy while playing with Jess and my group. If you haven't played MOTW it is worth a shot. I have had so much fun looking at moves and creating characters. Jess also doesn't just do MOTW. In my campaign for sessions that are for world-building, we have played Wanderhome and Quiet Year. I am sure there will be more. So, if you want to join the hunt and save the world sign up!
Playing a campaign with Jess for almost a year now, besides the very safe and considerate environment she runs and the very fleshed out world and (extremely tragic) characters she's made, I'm always especially blown away by the effort of research she puts in. I come in one week and she's built a mystery around a real-world obscure 19th century folk tale with actual newspaper clippings and everything. It rocks.
Jess is amazing, they come up with amazing plots and use fantastic visuals for MOTW. They also let me blend some aspect of another playbook (because I'm playing a spooky fey changeling) and take some of the penalties for being fey! It is so much fun and the atmosphere is perfect! I play to play in their campaign as long as I can!
