I got started GMing...
by listening to the Drunks and Dragons Podcast. I loved that it seemed like friends sitting around the table just enjoying the game. So I wanted to do the same.
My favorite books are
currently the Dungeon Crawler Carl Series. I love the world building, the shifts in tone and heart. How abilities and powers are gained and used, and of course Princess Donut. Donut Holes 4ever
How Raul runs games
I like to run light and fun adventures with a balance of roleplay, exploration, and combat. I mostly play in theatre of the mind, so that there's some flexibility in player actions/choices. I tailor my sessions to player preference, and I maintain an open, communicative, and responsive environment.

My favorite trope is...
the helper NPC is actually a good guy, subverting player expectations :P
My games focus on...
fun! I try to ensure that everyone has a chance to shine and that everyone has fun, including me!
Raul's ideal table
If you're open and relaxed, you'll enjoy gaming with me. My table is pretty loose, I like folks of all types, but people looking for a deep gritty realistic games may not enjoy my general style. I am always rooting for my players, hoping they succeed, but willing to let them lose if necessary. I always appreciate those with a command of the rules as good DM assistants and to help with newer players.

I think metagaming...
is okay, to some extent. I'll probably call it out if it's important for the story, but I've had players say things like "skeletons are probably resistant to piercing, we should use bludgeoning". That doesn't bother me too much, as an adventurer may know information like that.
I think min/maxing...
is okay. But I think that building a character for fun or thematic purposes is better. As a DM I try to design encounters to let you succeed, even with 'sub-optimal' builds. So relax!
