About Sebastien

Hello, my name is Sébastien. I'm 25 years old and I've been playing TTRPG since I was 15 years old starting in high school when I met a group of friends who were all playing D&D 3.5. That first encounter basically changed my life completely as I became addicted to playing TTRPGs. After playing as a player for a few years and graduating from high school, I unfortunately stopped talking to the group and made a swap to D&D 5e. I've ran many games and all the players I've run campaigns for had many good things to say. On top of my experience in running games, I am very open to advice or criticism if the situation requires it, I always make sure my players are having fun and I take their experience seriously as if your players aren't having fun, whats the point in even running a game! I am very confident in creating an experience that you could enjoy, I am very big with the fantasy genre, some form of realism when it comes to combat or RP. Though I'm always down for the rule of cool if the situation calls for it! I have recently swapped to PF2e and have been running my first PF2e game that has lasted over a year now and nearing its end. I also use Foundry VTT, and create my own maps and usual create my own homebrew worlds.

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be

Pathfinder 2e because its my favourite one and would be fun to play Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 if I wanted to be reminded of my first days of playing a TTRPG and finally Gurps, which would be my IRL survival guide I could reference and use everything written on the book to put into use in my situation

How Sebastien runs games

My style of GMing usually will be a mix of heavy role play and heavy combat. There are times where there will be a lot of combat, and then times where there will be a lot of role play. I enjoy having both be very important to the story. If you are in combat, it will likely be for a reason, whether it be for the story, or maybe a side quest to get you a special item. I enjoy making challenging combat, though not all the time. I allow some combat situations to be sometimes easier so you get to feel like you've grown in strength as a party. I also like realism, and I try to implement realism into the RP and description for combat. Sometimes it can be hard and we still have to apply the suspension of disbelief at times. I also enjoy allowing players to come up with creative ways to maybe use spells or win combat. An example I can give, my current group of players had decided to take on a fight they weren't prepared for and were warned that it would be difficult. The fight wasn't looking to well and a party wipe was likely going to happen. One of my players had asked if he could somehow do something to allow the rest of the party to escape, asked to do some form of agro. I allowed this though his character would be sacraficed for the party to live. This created an great story moment and an epic final stand for the player.

I once ran a session...

on 0 hours of sleep and 0 prep. It went as well as you'd imagine. It went pretty well actually. I have a bit of Improv experience which definitely helped with the session

I prep by

Writing down notes on a blank piece of paper, then when I think I have everything I needed covered I write all my notes in a more detailed way which I then use for my sessions

My games focus on...

Realism (if able), serious role play moments, intense combat, your decisions changing where the full quest line will lead you, and making sure that your character backstory if possible, will have some form of side quest to continue it along through the story.

Sebastien's ideal table

my able is very relaxed and serious at the same time. I find that players who are able to make decisions on their own or are able to converse between the party do very well. I promote role play between players, especially when it comes to talking about the story plot, what the party should do next or just general bonding. I also invite jokes when the situation calls for it, I am very relaxed and enjoy a joke about any given situation. I like to give players the wheel when it comes to directions and what they want to do. One of the things you'll likely hear me say the most often is "What are you guys going to do" or "What are you doing." I want my players to make the decisions on what their next step is going to be. I also like to keep thing realistic if able, especially combat. My combat can be sometimes deadly but definitely possible, I enjoy strategic combat encounters but also allow for some easy fights when the situation calls for it.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table

Realism, Light Heartedness, Strategic intense combat, good story plots, interactive backgrounds which I implement into the campaign, decision making which affect where you'll be going next, and serious role playing

I love it when a player

Thinks outside the box and does something I wouldn't expect. I love it even more if a player wishes to use a spell in a very creative way, even if the spell might not be used in the way they want to use it. If it makes sense I would definitely allow it.

I think min/maxing...

Boring, I generally don't like minmaxing, especially if it effects the other players. I am however, ok with players making their characters very good at what their character would be good at. If a character is built off being a liar, I obviously expect the player to make the character good at lying
