About Redmane (RAGE Games)

๐Ÿ‘‹ Hey! I'm Redmane (Red, Rae, Gabriel) โ€” a professional World of Darkness Storyteller from the East Coast USA, now in Oklahoma. I've been fascinated by vampires, werewolves, and things that go bump in the night since childhood, which led me to studying WoD lore and collecting sourcebooks long before I ever ran a game online. My storytelling background stretches back eight years across play-by-post, MMO server events, LARP, and acting troupes before moving into online tabletop in 2021. What started as "I can't find a good WoD game, so I'll run one" turned into a full-time passion. ๐ŸฆŽ Outside the game, I'm an iguana dad, a herpetology and cryptozoology enthusiast, a costumer, a folklore nerd, and proudly Irish-American. ๐Ÿ’ธ What You're Paying For Session fees go directly into maintaining the quality of your experience: Foundry VTT licensing, custom battle maps, licensed music and ambiance packs, professional Discord management, rulebook and supplement purchases, and reliable high-speed internet. Compared to other VTM V5 weekly games on StartPlaying โ€” most running $20โ€“$35/session โ€” RAGE Games chronicles are priced at the lower end of that range despite offering full Foundry VTT production with custom visual and audio assets built specifically for each session. Prices will increase gradually as experience, catalog, and production quality continue to grow. ๐Ÿ“ฌ My DMs are always open. Questions, concerns, or just want to talk werewolf mythology? Don't be a stranger. Updated 04-15-26

I got started GMing...

...because I couldn't find a good World of Darkness game, so I decided to run one myself. Eight years of play-by-post, MMO server events, LARP, and acting troupes came before I ever touched online tabletop โ€” and when I finally did, it all clicked into place.

My favorite shows/movies are

...anything to do with werewolves, vampires, and the supernatural. If I had to pick my top favorites? Underworld, Blade, Teen Wolf, True Blood, and the Buffyverse. If it has fangs, fur, or folklore behind it, I've probably already seen it twice.

People are always surprised when I tell them

...I've been a zookeeper, a retail manager, a childcare worker, and worked in a fast food kitchen before landing on professional Storyteller. Every job taught me something about managing a room full of unpredictable creatures while keeping a schedule.

How Redmane (RAGE Games) runs games

๐Ÿ“š Lore-First, Story-Always I lean toward canonicity wherever possible. Headcanon and homebrew fill the gaps, and outside inspiration is explained through canon means where I can manage it. I cite sources and point you to the book when referencing a rule โ€” not just tell you what it says. That said, lore always serves the story, never the other way around. ๐ŸŽฒ Dice When They Matter I call for rolls when your character's stats don't support what they're attempting โ€” that's what the dice pool is for. If you're attempting something your character isn't built for, expect a roll. If you're in your element, expect to shine without one. ๐ŸŽญ Planned but Flexible I come to every chronicle with a theme, a concept, and a few possible endings in mind โ€” but the story is yours to shape. Choices, conversations, and relationships carry just as much weight as combat outcomes, sometimes more. I run multi-ending stories built around mystery, action, and horror, supported by light voice acting, descriptive scene-setting, thematic music, and atmospheric ambiance via Foundry VTT. ๐Ÿ” Split Scenes & Secrets World of Darkness is a game of secrets โ€” personal agendas, hidden loyalties, and information your character knows that others don't. Because of this, I frequently run split-party scenes where characters pursue separate leads, interact with NPCs privately, or explore different angles of the same mystery before regrouping to compare notes. This is an intentional part of how WoD stories are told. If you prefer tight ensemble play where the whole party moves together at all times, that's worth knowing before you join. ๐ŸŒ World Consequences World of Darkness is a dangerous setting โ€” NPCs can be harmed, threatened, or killed as part of the story. This is handled with narrative purpose, not arbitrarily, and players almost always have the opportunity to fight for the people and places they care about. If a particular NPC or Supporting Character matters deeply to your character, let me know. I take player investment seriously โ€” and there are fates worse than death that make for better drama anyway. Advantages and Backgrounds work the same way. A Haven can burn down, an Ally can turn, a Retainer can be lost. When this happens, all XP spent on that Advantage is refunded, and nothing stops you from rebuilding it through play. Temporary Advantages gained without XP expenditure are not guaranteed to last. ๐Ÿงช Homebrew & Canon All homebrew content is clearly labeled every time it appears โ€” in character creation, in session, and in source citations. Canon material is cited by book and page number. Homebrew is cited by source document. You will always know what is official and what is expanded. Players choose whether to incorporate homebrew options into their characters โ€” nothing is forced. Homebrew expansions currently in development include: ๐Ÿฆ‹ Changeling: the Dreaming ๐Ÿง™ Mage: the Ascension ๐Ÿ‘ป Wraith: the Oblivion ๐Ÿพ Shifter Variants (Ratkin, Ananasi, and more) All expand exclusively on content already re-canonized in official WoD5 sourcebooks. ๐Ÿ“– Systems I Run ๐Ÿง› Vampire: the Masquerade V5 ๐Ÿบ Werewolf: the Apocalypse W5 ๐Ÿช“ Hunter: the Reckoning H5 ๐Ÿฆ‹ Changeling: the Dreaming โ€” Homebrew Expansion (In Development) ๐Ÿง™ Mage: the Ascension โ€” Homebrew Expansion (In Development) ๐Ÿ‘ป Wraith: the Oblivion โ€” Homebrew Expansion (In Development) ๐Ÿพ Shifter Variants โ€” Homebrew Expansion (In Development) ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ What I Bring to the Table Every chronicle runs on Foundry VTT with custom tokens, battle maps, scene artwork, thematic music, sound effects, and ambiance tracks built for each session specifically. I come from a background in web design, 2D graphics, and video production โ€” and it shows at the table. All visual and audio content includes creator credit. โฑ๏ธ How a Session Runs Sessions are approximately 4 hours long and follow a consistent structure: โ€ข ๐Ÿ“ก Call opens 15 minutes early for tech checks, Foundry setup, and getting settled โ€ข ๐Ÿ“– Recap and safety tool review at the 15-minute mark to refresh the story so far โ€ข ๐ŸŽญ Active play begins, running until the halfway point โ€ข โ˜• 10-minute bio break at halftime โ€” stretch, refill, breathe โ€ข ๐ŸŽญ Play resumes and continues until a cliffhanger ending point โ€ข โญ Stars & Wishes wind-down (15โ€“20 minutes) Stars are something you loved doing or seeing this session. Wishes are something you'd like to do or see happen soon. These directly inform planning for upcoming sessions. XP earned is announced during Stars & Wishes and posted in Discord afterward. Players are welcome to leave at any time. ๐ŸŒŸ Guest Stars Occasionally I'll invite a player from another chronicle โ€” or a survivor of a past one โ€” to guest star for an episode or two. Guest stars serve narrative purposes: delivering key information, stirring up trouble, or tying storylines together across the shared world. This is free of charge, as guest stars have limited screen time compared to full player characters. Current players cannot guest star in a chronicle they're already playing in. ๐ŸŽญ NewGame+ Characters don't have to be scrapped when a story ends or a player wants to try something new. The NewGame+ system lets players carry a portion of their Earned XP forward into a new character via one of two methods: โ€ข ๐Ÿ‘ด Retirement โ€” Set your character aside and pass 50% of your Earned XP to a new one. The retired character enters XP debt but remains playable. โ€ข ๐Ÿ”ช Sacrifice โ€” Arrange an on-screen death with the Storyteller and transfer 75% of your Earned XP to a new character. This rewards meaningful roleplay, not shortcuts. Cross-splat transfers are supported with limitations โ€” Attributes and Skills carry over freely, but splat-specific powers must be learned through play. A 10-session cooldown applies between transfers. Full details are available in the RAGE Games Discord. ๐Ÿ“• Plot Armor You decide whether your character can die โ€” and you can change your mind between sessions. Three settings are available on your character sheet: โ€ข ๐Ÿ“• Plot Armor: On โ€” Your character won't die unexpectedly. Consequences may fall on NPCs or Advantages instead, and you'll be warned before anything fatal. โ€ข ๐Ÿ“• Plot Armor: Conditional โ€” You're open to death at a dramatically appropriate moment โ€” heroic, impactful, or meaningful. โ€ข ๐Ÿ“• Plot Armor: Dead Man Walking โ€” You want your character killed off as part of the story. Let me know, and I'll weave it in. WoD5 rewards investment in your character. You shouldn't lose months of work to a bad dice roll without warning. Updated 04-15-26

If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...

...Guillermo del Toro and Alan Ball in a trench coat. Atmospheric, lore-heavy, morally complicated, and occasionally very messy for the protagonists. Folklore is taken seriously. Nobody gets out clean.

My games focus on...

...character-driven mystery, gothic horror, and consequences. Combat happens, but a secret kept too long or a relationship pushed to its limit shapes the story just as much. Your character's history and choices matter from session one.

Rules are...

...a framework, not a cage. I run RaW because WoD5's mechanics support the story โ€” and I'll always show you where the rule lives in the book. Dice get called when your stats don't back you up. In your element? Expect to shine without one.

Redmane (RAGE Games)'s ideal table

๐Ÿ‘ฅ The Vibe My table is immersive but safe. Intense scenes are handled with care, check-ins happen after heavy moments, and lines and veils are established at Session 0 and respected throughout. Dark themes, warm table. I give ample attention to every player and every character. Individual spotlight moments matter here โ€” your character's relationships, secrets, and choices shape the story just as much as the party's collective actions. ๐Ÿ†• Beginner Friendly New to World of Darkness? You're in the right place. I answer questions during play, reference the book so you know where to find things later, and run a dedicated Character Creation session before every chronicle. No experience required โ€” just curiosity and a willingness to dive in. ๐ŸŒ The Shared World All RAGE Games chronicles take place on the same timeline and tell an ongoing story. Characters and events from one chronicle can ripple into another. Guest Stars from other tables occasionally appear, and the world reacts to what your table does in it. ๐Ÿ“– Chronicle Length & Commitment Each chronicle aims for approximately 40 sessions โ€” roughly equivalent to a full television season. If the story still has legs and players want to continue, a follow-up chronicle may be listed as a new entry on StartPlaying, both to keep things organized and to give new players a clear entry point. You are not locked in indefinitely. Players can step back when needed, and the NewGame+ system means your XP investment carries forward even if you start fresh with a new character. ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ Tech Requirements A working microphone and headset are required for live sessions. Headsets prevent echo feedback that disrupts play for everyone at the table โ€” speakers are not recommended. Video is optional and never required, but appreciated. Please mute your mic during background noise, side conversations, or any moment you'd rather keep private. Turn off your camera whenever you need to โ€” no explanation required. ๐Ÿ“น Voice-and-Video sessions are recorded. Recordings are private by default and shared only with active players in that chronicle, for recap, planning, and safety purposes. Recording is a non-negotiable condition of play for all live sessions. Video is optional โ€” audio is not. ๐Ÿ“… Attendance & Cancellations ๐ŸŸข RSVP System Before each session, players are asked to RSVP in Discord: โ€ข ๐ŸŸข Attending โ€ข ๐ŸŸก Late โ€ข ๐Ÿ”ด Skipping New character art, sheet updates, or mechanical changes must be posted in your character thread before session start to be used that session. โญ๏ธ Skipping Sessions Players may skip sessions as needed โ€” life happens. Skips can be handled through SPG 24 hours in advance or by notifying me in Discord. Sessions left early due to emergency before the bio break are eligible for a refund. Skipped or refunded sessions do not earn XP. Players who are missing significantly more sessions than they attend may need to step back and free their seat for someone who can commit. This will always be handled with a direct conversation โ€” never a surprise. โŒ Storyteller Cancellations If I need to cancel, I'll announce it in Discord as early as possible โ€” ideally the day before, at latest early the day of. Players are not charged for ST-cancelled sessions. If a session ends mid-play due to emergency or outage, all charges are refunded. ๐ŸŽฎ The RAGE Games Discord All chronicles use a professional-grade Discord server where players can customize their level of involvement, stay connected between sessions, and engage with the broader community at their own pace. Players can join and leave freely โ€” no hard feelings, no locked doors. ๐Ÿ“‹ Table Rules at a Glance โ€ข All players must be 18+ โ€ข Player characters must be 18+ chronologically and physically unless discussed at Session 0 โ€ข Lines and veils are set at Session 0 and respected throughout the chronicle โ€ข Harassment of any kind โ€” toward other players or the Storyteller โ€” results in removal โ€ข Keep OOC chatter to appropriate channels; in-session sidebar is kept to a minimum โ€ข AI may be used for character inspiration; fully AI-written backstories are not accepted โ€ข Artist credit is included for all visual and audio content used at the table โ€ข Sessions are recorded for safety and recap purposes โ€” participation confirms consent โœ… You'll Love This Table If You... โ€ข Enjoy deep lore, gothic horror, and morally complex stories โ€ข Want your character's choices, secrets, and relationships to have lasting consequences โ€ข Are new to WoD and want patient, book-referenced guidance โ€ข Appreciate production value โ€” music, visuals, and atmosphere โ€” baked into every session โ€ข Are comfortable with split scenes, private NPC interactions, and a world that moves even when you're not in the spotlight โš ๏ธ This Might Not Be Your Table If You... โ€ข Prefer the whole party together and moving as one unit at all times โ€ข Want a rules-light or narrative-only experience with minimal dice rolling โ€ข Are looking for a combat-focused, action-first chronicle โ€ข Are not comfortable with the crunchier mechanics of the WoD5 system Updated 04-15-26

I am for a vibe that's...

...immersive but safe. Intense scenes are handled with care, check-ins happen after heavy moments, and lines and veils are set at Session 0 and honored throughout. I want players to feel the weight of the World of Darkness without ever feeling unsafe at the table. Dark themes, warm table.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table

...secrets, intrigue, and gothic horror โ€” you'll feel at home. WoD5 is a game where relationships, reputation, and hidden agendas matter as much as stats. If you want to feel like the protagonist of a dark supernatural drama, pull up a chair.

My table is not the place for...

...rushing to combat or needing the party together at all times. WoD is a game of secrets โ€” split scenes are part of that. It's also crunchy and RaW. Not rules-light โ€” but if you're willing to learn, I'll teach you every step of the way.
