About Rachelmagination
Lifelong writer and storyteller. I started playing D&D in late 2019 and starting DMing in early 2020, and my sanity and wallet have never recovered, but I'm still having the time of my life! Intrigue, collaborative story, roleplay, and lore are my jam. Big fan of epic fantasy (i.e., LOTR, Stormlight Archive), heroic/hopeful grimdark (Dragon Age, The Witcher), heroic sci-fi/utopia (Doctor Who, Star Trek), and space opera (Dune, Star Wars). Also a cosplayer, gamer, and Critical Role fan. I've mostly played and run D&D 5e, but have also dabbled in the Modiphius 2d20 system for Dune and Star Trek, the Dragon Age RPG, the Cosmere RPG, and Daggerheart.

I became a GM because
I believe that storytelling and collaborative games make us more confident, compassionate, and cooperative while also encouraging creativity
People are always surprised when I tell them
I’m a sucker for happy endings, even though I love torturing the blorbos
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Creative, crafty, and committed to the bit
How Rachelmagination runs games
I've been told that my specialty is using my BA in English to craft exquisite ways of tormenting characters (with player participation and approval) for the lore. I love roleplay, intrigue, meaningful combat, creative solutions, lore, and everything else that puts the collaborative storytelling first. If my players are having fun expressing themselves and their creativity, so am I. I've run homebrew campaigns and prewritten, and enjoy both. Big fan of Exandria, the Forgotten Realms, and Thedas. No such thing as too much lore or intrigue at my table!

My favorite trope is...
A tie between found family and battle couples
My games focus on...
The story and characters, especially to bring intrigue, schemes, angst, and fun to the game
Rules are...
Meant to help organize the game and make it comprehensible, not dominate it
Rachelmagination's ideal table
Roleplayers, lore fiends, intrigue schemers, torture enthusiasts, and anyone else who loves really making their heroes work for their happy endings

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
lore, intrigue, and character focused stories
I think metagaming...
Should be done tastefully, or humorously, not as an excuse to powergame
My table is not the place for...
Powergamers, main characters, or murder hobos (unless everyone is on the same page)
