About Professor Questwrite

Hail fellow well met! I'm Christian also known as Professor Questwrite and storytelling is my passion! I've been running games as a GM for the past seven years both recreationally and professionally. I have steady long term groups, I work for game shops, do special events, and will even run custom requests. I do my best to bring NPCs and settings to life with voices, rich narratives, and lore grounded in historical inspiration to create an in depth, lived in story that feels tangible and immersive. I work hard to weave your character and your story into the game to curate an adventure that truly feels familiar, unique, and your own. If this sounds like your kind of adventure then Look no further! Play with me for mischievous shenanigans, deep lore dives, thorough role play and character development, and to tell a tale for the ages. I am an educator at heart and I worked in Human Resources for years developing teams and working with people to achieve their success and I do my best to carry that spirit into our games. I would love the opportunity to play with YOU!

I became a GM because

To me, nothing is quite as rewarding as bringing people together to tell a great story and reap the rich rewards of our shared imagination and creativity while having a good time! After my first campaign as a player character I decided to become a Forever GM, and I've never regretted it!

My favorite books are

Written by authors who create rich worlds full of detail. I love all of Tolkien's works, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, Works by Michael Crichton like Jurassic Park and Timeline, the Witcher by Andrzej Sapkowski, books by George RR Martin, Timothy Zhan, and many others.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Always seeking new creative outlets. Currently in my spare time I love to read, write, draw maps, paint miniatures, practice bookbinding, game, and go long distance backpacking. Of course much of my time not being a GM is spent doing my prep work for being a GM!

How Professor Questwrite runs games

I love introducing new players to the game and cultivating our shared creativity. I enjoy teaching the rules and working with people to get the best experience they can out of a game. I do my best to be as accommodating as I can. My style is centered around immersive storytelling that prioritizes roleplay, a little improv, and yes, the rules to create an engaging experience for players. I believe that every session is an opportunity to forge memorable moments where characters’ personalities and choices truly matter, encouraging players to dive deep into their roles and interact with the world in meaningful ways. I love weaving rich lore and compelling narratives that breathe life into the game world, making every location, NPC, and artifact feel like part of a living history. My focus is on encouraging players to uncover secrets, piece together lore, and venture into the unknown to discover new stories and challenges by interacting with the environment and its inhabitants. The “rule of cool” guides my decisions, allowing me to prioritize epic moments and exciting heroics that elevate the experience, while still respecting rule mechanics and logic, ensuring that each player feels like their actions shape the evolving narrative. Ultimately, my goal is to foster a collaborative storytelling environment where creativity, adventure, and even humor go hand in hand, making each game session a memorable journey filled with discovery, heroism, and epic moments! And yes, there is plenty of combat and dice rolling too!

If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...

Some are grand adventures with many lighthearted moments that could only be capture by Peter Jackson, Some are timeless stories with development of character that could only be done by Spielberg, and plenty others are the goofy, nonsensical, odysseys that could only be presented by Mel Brooks!

My favorite trope is...

“The Quest” and “The Hero’s Journey” for sure. They explore universal themes of growth, challenge, and transformation that really relate to our desire for meaning, hope, and self-discovery. They're essential for any compelling, timeless story or adventure and they are what draw us ALL to TTRPGs!

Rules are...

More like guidelines! They are important for a cohesive, structured experience that is fair and balanced for everyone... However the most important rule is of course to have fun, and "The Rule of Cool" is what allows for all of the best moments and it really requires some flexibility to achieve.

Professor Questwrite's ideal table

I want my table to have a warm, inviting, and collaborative atmosphere where storytelling, character development, and fun take center stage. I enjoy creating a rich, lived-in world filled with lore, history, and in-game details that make the setting feel alive. I try to keep the tone immersive, encouraging players to explore and engage deeply with the story, with lots of laughs, to be sure. Players who fit well at my table are curious, creative, and eager to roleplay. No, they don't need to speak in first person or an accent the whole time, but they should want to embody their characters and care about their journey. I love working with players who enjoy becoming their characters, thinking outside the box, and finding unique solutions to challenges. Those who put a lot of thought into their backstories and appreciate narrative-driven gameplay will thrive at my table, as the game often unfolds based on YOUR character decisions, and motivations as much as lore. The "vibe", as they say, is generally imaginative and exploratory, with an emphasis on story and character growth. I encourage players to take risks, interact with the world, and really immerse themselves in their roles. Friendly, respectful, and open-minded players who love storytelling, lore, and crafting their character’s journey will find an experience that I believe they will deeply appreciate. If you're passionate about deep roleplay and creating a shared, engaging story, you'll feel right at home at my table.

I love it when a player

Laughs so hard they cant breath or start crying. Seriously. No, my games aren't just fool around sessions where anything goes, but when everyone together is enjoying themselves so much that they are comfortable enough to laugh deeply at something funny I know a real bond is forming in the group.

My perfect party mix is

Full of creative people who just want to tell a good story. I want my party to be players who take the journey seriously, and care about their characters and the world they are in and want to propel narrative rather than derail it, and yes, enjoy some inappropriate humor on occasion along the way.

My table is not the place for...

Uncooperative players. No "Main Character Energy", as the story encompasses everyone's collective journey. My table is not the place for Min-Maxers trying to break the game, or murder hobos who think violence works in every situation. If you want combat heavy games mine is not the table for you.
