About Kip
I've been a Dungeon Master in various capacities for more than 40 years, though I've drifted away from more mechanic-heavy systems to those that tend to be more rules-light with focus on character interactions, improvisation and role play. I like almost all of the Powered by the Apocalypse systems and annually GM Monster of the Week sessions at GenCon. I love presenting characters with difficult choices and rewarding failure with experience. If you like collaborating with the Game Master to make real decisions that really affect the world, including the Player Characters around you, there's a good chance you'll like the way I game.

Featured Prompts
I got started GMing...
At the age of 12 with my best friends in the basement -- kind of like Stranger Things. Still game with them at least once a year at GenCon!
My favorite books are
Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. The Last Argument of Kings series. The Twenty Palaces books. The Brothers Karamazov and Ulysses for that matter.
My favorite system of all Time is
The Powered by the Apocalypse system -- just enough rules to help surprise you and guide the adventure. That frees the brain up for character development and incredible role play.
How Kip runs games
Collaborative, improvisational, character driven, fan of Powered by the Apocalypse and other rules-light improv-heavy systems.
Kip's ideal table
Conversational, player-empowered, improvisational, character-driven drama, inter-personal, fun.

Role play and improvisation.
I love it when a player
Agonizes over a tough decision and decides to do what the character would do, even if it doesn't optimize their chances of success.
My table is not the place for...
Rule-mongering or super tactical combat.
