About Maggie Mae
Hoi! 👋 I'm a multi-setting Player and Gamemaster with a great love of co-building dramatic arcs with the tables gracious enough to have me. Ever since I first began roleplaying in online forums as a kid, which naturally progressed into tabletop play, I have enjoyed roleplay as a way to not just tell meaningful stories with other players, but to also relate to the people around me. Get in, babes! We're roleplaying for social cohesion here! 🌈💖

I got started GMing...
…while at an internship/co-op with some other young professionals. And I sucked! But the cool thing about growing up and growing older is that you never have to stop improving your game. Literally.
My favorite shows/movies are
…the ones that have the most amazing soundtracks. I inevitably steal something from each and every single one. (Gosh I love a brass section.)
People are always surprised when I tell them
…that I studied mime growing up, because I never shut up. I actually can! It just requires the right moment (and so much greasepaint, just so much, you guys).
How Maggie Mae runs games
Expect a roleplaying experience from a GM who treasures building scenarios close to a player character's heart. 🫀 You're here because you long to tell beautiful stories and uplift the stories of others.

I deal with rules issues by...
…quickly searching against my memory or from a reasonable application of obvious rules. If that fails, I do a quick search of the text, once. And if that fails, I cheerfully defer to the player's suggestion and promise to look it up during break or after session. Keep it rolling!
I once ran a session...
…where I didn't even speak up for the first hour. It was amazing. Players felt great about all of the roleplay and character development they got done! (I felt great about all of the notes I organized!)
Rules are...
…meant to mechanically support the table's shared narrative. Not every system will jibe with the story you want to tell. That's cool, though: that means you can try another system that might. When in doubt, if it doesn't make your characters' lives more dramatic (in a good way), it's not for you.
Maggie Mae's ideal table
You're at the table because you have personal buy-in. You want to do cool things with your character, with other players doing cool things with their characters. You come to the table with a desire to tell a story, and not just your character's: your eyes sparkle when you think about how the person to your figurative left and right are planning out where their character's arc is going, and you genuinely can't wait to work out what happens next with everyone.

I am for a vibe that's...
…friendly in a bone-deep way, loving in a human-to-human way, and supporting in a community way.
If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
…hyper-competence shows like Leverage and Scorpion, found family shows like The Bear and Supernatural, and all the interpersonal friction and cohesion that comes with both.
I love it when a player
…states their intentions clearly going into their decisions. "Hey, I want to accomplish [XYZ], so my character is going to[…]" It fills me with delight, because I want to find the best way I can support that happening the way they intend. And hey, their fellow players might want to know, too!
