Pete is a really nice DM who ran a smooth session using a really cool resource. The storyline and mini games were really enjoyable, and combat was challenging. I really enjoyed the creativity involved and his narration.

I appreciated that the game was free, but it wasn't fun at all. The discord link was sent via a start playing message at the last minute, literally. Originally slated and advertised for Owlbear Rodeo VTT, but notified a few minutes before the game that it would be on AboveVTT. Even though I figured it out quickly how to get the program, the DM wasn't able to use it effectively. Two tokens on a blank screen and he gave up on it. The game ended up being voice only through discord with the use of a wiki page that was not explained at all. I was constantly switching between the D&D beyond sheet, the wiki, two different discord pages and had a hard time keeping up. Every time I had to figure something out, the DM would maybe give a brief instruction, and keep moving on to the next player. The game was rushed and there seemed to be no focus on the players having fun. No fun at all, and no genuine interest from the DM in helping the players. The only reason I didn't leave early is that I didn't want to bail out on the other two players. I signed up and took a chance on this new DM (new to Start Playing), but he has a long way to go in my book.

Didn't know how to use his DM tools. Couldn't even get our character tokens up. Had too many tabs that he expected players to hop around instead of getting immersed in the game. He expected players to keep track of certain monster stats. He was in such a rush to end the game that he ended up talking over players and almost skipping some extra abilities the characters had.

We had a really fun time. The one shot was silly and fun but also some really good combat. Definitely recommend giving his games a try.
