About Josh Upton
I've been playing TTRPGs since early 2016, and running them almost as long, having first picked up my first GM Book in September of the same year. I am a forever GM, and a very happy one at that. DnD, Death in Space, Mork Borg, and Warhammer Dark Crusade all feature in my roster of games. Warhammer Fantasy will always hold a place in my heart as my first ever Roleplaying Game, both played and ran. I have run games for dozens of players, friends, co-workers, and strangers. I recently GM'd two games at DiceConLviv, and I run several campaigns in the same ever evolving DnD world for paying players.

I became a GM because
I love worldbuilding, and even more than that I love sharing the worlds I build with others. I revel in the crafting of new stories with my players, and like to see myself as both storyteller and facilitator of player driven stories.
How Josh Upton runs games
Three things that define my games are player freedom, expansive sandbox worlds to explore, and an abundance of high level politics, intrigue, and conflict for players to cause chaos with. I always push my players to explore any and all aspects of the worlds I craft, in any way they choose. I do create storylines, quests, and adventures, but I am always happy for my players to take the story on their own direction and create their own unique and emergent adventures in my worlds. I love when my players surprise me, or keep me on my toes. As a GM, I am not a hard stick in the mud for strict rule interpretation. My players are there to have fun, whimsy is a key part of this. If a rule is hampering fun, its then more of a guideline to me. I like working with my players to create solutions to in game and rules rooted problems. Finally, I am an actor and role player at heart, and I bring that energy to all my games. Not only do I love crafting worlds, I love acting them out. While I encourage my players to do so, I will never demand it.
