About Daniel | PapaRatzy
Storytelling is my passion. I have been running games over the past 25 years from D&D 3.5 through all sorts of different systems (FATE, Core, BESM/Tri-stat and more). My favorite way to tell stories is by putting down the dice and then just talking back and forth but I'm comfortable in the crunch. As a certified life coach, I use storytelling with my clients to spark self-awareness and creativity. This helps me read the room, support players, and shape the story around their choices. I’m here to offer a warm, steady table where everyone can shine.

My favorite system of all Time is
My favorite system of all time recently changed to Daggerheart! It combines what I love about many different systems: 1. The Rule of Cool = Narratively Satisfying above all else 2. Solid mechanics 3. Use of short phrases as a character power (Experiences). 4. Publisher that listens to consumers.
When I'm not running games I'm...
When I'm not running TTRPG games, I'm a life coach using storytelling to help clients create new understanding of themselves and identify ways to incorporate that into change. I also am the president of a non-profit to support professional coaches.
How Daniel | PapaRatzy runs games
I focus on roleplay supported by conflict, puzzles and challenges that heighten the narrative instead of blocking it. I use fail-forward principles and treat the rules as a steady foundation while still finding the narrative logic behind rule-of-cool moments. I want sessions that feel collaborative, emotionally grounded and easy to stay immersed in. TLDR: Story arcs and character-driven narratives. Clear structure for one-shots; flexible choice for campaigns. Tone shaped around the kind of story we’re telling.

I deal with rules issues by...
Scanning the rules quickly and ultimately making a judgement call that matches the narrative intent of the story. Players are welcome to disagree but final decisions are mine and additional discussions need to be carried out after the game in private to preserve everyone's enjoyment.
Daniel | PapaRatzy's ideal table
I appreciate players who can be self-aware, curious, and present in the moment. When people bring emotional intelligence to the table, the story deepens and the group bonds naturally. I want a table where everyone contributes to the shared narrative and keeps the momentum going. TLDR: Players who stay engaged Respect for each other’s time and spotlight Creative gameplay that keeps me on my toes
