About Papa Anthony
Howdy partners! My name is Anthony also known as Papa (or Papa Anthony). I have been playing DnD for many years and have many one shots as well as a couple of campaigns under my tunic! I am in the Mental Health field when I am not running or playing games at the table, and have a beautiful wife and son that I enjoy immensely. I am an ally to all except those who disrespect and discriminate against others based on race, gender/gender non conforming, spiritual beliefs, and/or sexual preference(s). Hate is not allowed at my tables and I have a zero tolerance policy. My tables are meant to be a safe haven in a world that has been (and continuous to be) not kind. I love telling stories and love having other wonderfully special folks like you help me tell them! Let's amplify joy and kindness together, shall we? Love, Your TTRPG Papa.

I became a GM because
I became a DM because I wanted to foster fun and collaborative storytelling to my tables. I wanted to get those at my table to venture forth and be creative and cunning. I wanted to create a space of kindness, support, and respect and so I took the DM plunge and haven't looked back!
My favorite books are
Dragonlance, Stormlight Archives (well really anything Brandon Sanderson), Lord of the Rings, and countless other fantasy/sci fi !
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Three words my players have described me: 1) Kind 2) Creative 3) Collaborative Some of my favorite outside top three that they said were "dedicated", "intentional", and "thorough".
How Papa Anthony runs games
My style is not super heavy into rules as written (RAW), although I still abide by them. My style of DM is all about allowing each player at my table to feel safe and heard and to foster that sense of community. Ultimately this leads to trust and agency to allow beautiful stories to come out together. My combats can be intense and not always come out the way the player wants, however I believe that the dice tell a story and my players often find more rich story out of a "loss" than a "win". When combat and/or RP gets heavy, i always check in with my players after to make sure they are ok. Above all, as DM it's my job to take care of my people.

I prep by
I prep by a combination of knowing the overall story that I want to tell, and considering each player's interests and character's motivation. I have been known (well to myself) to toss out swaths of story beats to serve the better purpose of what decisions the table have made.
My games focus on...
My games focus on great roleplaying and collaborative story telling. I run combat and make it fun for all involved, however my passion is in the role playing and building things together with my players.
Rules are...
Rules are there for a reason, but they are not the end all be all. I have some homebrew rules and sometimes the "Rule of Cool" needs to take front stage for the enjoyment of the table.
Papa Anthony's ideal table
My tables are a creative and collaborative area where my players and I build a story that involves them as much as my world. My tables are an LGBTQ+ safe space. I have zero tolerance for hate speech and discrimination of any kind and so have no quarrels of kindly telling folks to find a different table if they do not abide by this. My tables are meant to be a sanctuary against the unkind events that the world has been imposing on people. Basic human decency is a requirement to play at a Papa table.

I love it when a player
Gives me their character and builds in how they fit into the world/story. I love my players immersing themselves into the story, lore, and their fellow peers. I often give benefits in my tables (known as "Papa Tokens") for folks who go above and beyond as such.
My perfect party mix is
New to TTRPG folks mixed with the ole wiley vets. I love teaching new things, but I love it more to watch the table help each other out with mechanics and growing into each other.
My table is not the place for...
Racism, Sexism, Homophobia, cruel people, and overall unkind folks. I believe that basic human rights are essential and have no qualms of not allowing players to my table who go against these basic tenets.
