About Paka

Aloha! I’m Paka, and Lancer has become one of my favorite tabletop games to run and play. I love its combination of tactical combat, creative mech building, and science-fiction storytelling. As a GM, my goal is to create games where players can experiment with their builds, make meaningful tactical decisions, and see their choices shape the mission and the world around them. My games are combat-focused, but the story still matters. I enjoy creating clear objectives, interesting battlefields, evolving situations, and roleplay decisions that directly affect upcoming encounters. Whether you are carefully optimizing a mech or simply trying something that sounds fun, I want every player to have room to contribute and enjoy their role on the team. A little about me: I’m from Hawaii, and growing up here has made me maʻa, or accustomed, to people from many different cultures and walks of life. Hawaii is a tremendous melting pot, and that has shaped how I approach the table. I value communication, patience, respect, and making sure everyone has a voice. I GM because I genuinely love bringing people together to play. My goal is to provide welcoming, well-prepared Lancer games where pilots can test wild ideas, overcome difficult missions, and leave the table already thinking about their next mech build. Mahalo for your time, and please feel free to contact me about joining a game or arranging a private Lancer session!

My favorite books are

My favorite books are Dungeon Crawler Carl, Red Rising, and The Stormlight Archive. I love stories with unforgettable characters, epic worlds, high stakes, and the perfect mix of action, humor, and emotional moments.

When I'm not running games I'm...

When I'm not prepping or playing D&D, I'm focused on being a provider for my family. I also love building Magic: The Gathering decks, trying new ideas, and enjoying great food with the people who matter most.

How Paka runs games

My Lancer games focus on tactical combat, creative buildcraft, and meaningful player choice. I love giving players room to experiment with their mechs, test unusual strategies, and see how their decisions perform in encounters designed to challenge the whole squad. Story remains an important part of the experience, especially when it gives the pilots a reason to care about the mission and allows their roleplay choices to directly affect objectives, enemy forces, rewards, and future operations. I prefer a clear rhythm between narrative scenes and combat so that each part of the game has room to breathe. Missions feature defined objectives, dynamic battlefields, optional complications, and bonus goals that reward players for taking risks or approaching problems creatively. I stay familiar with the rules and generally run them as written, while remaining open to fair rulings that keep the game moving rather than allowing small questions to stall an entire turn. I welcome both experienced pilots and players who are completely new to Lancer. I am always open to feedback about what the group enjoys, whether that means more tactical difficulty, additional roleplay, greater freedom to explore builds, or a different style of mission. Most importantly, the table is meant to be a safe and welcoming place. I clearly communicate the premise, tone, expectations, and likely subject matter of each game beforehand, and I use safety tools to ensure everyone can participate comfortably. Discrimination, harassment, bullying, and behavior that diminishes another player’s enjoyment have no place at my table. Feel free to contact me with any questions, and I will do my best to help you determine whether one of my games is the right deployment for you.

Paka's ideal table

My ideal table is made up of players who are excited to engage with both the story and Lancer’s tactical depth. I enjoy players who care about the mission, make meaningful character choices, experiment with their mech builds, and work together when combat begins. You do not need to be an expert or an optimizer, but you should be willing to learn, communicate, and contribute to the squad. I value players who respect everyone’s time, share the spotlight, and understand that different people enjoy the game in different ways. Some players may love roleplay, others may live in COMP/CON tweaking their build, and the best tables make room for both. I especially enjoy groups that discuss plans, embrace difficult objectives, and can handle setbacks without turning competition or frustration against one another. Above all, I want a welcoming table where everyone feels comfortable, heard, and invested. Come ready to tell a memorable story, pilot an interesting mech, support your teammates, and have fun together.
