About Our Emerging Stories | Teal
Immersion, Transformation and Meaning. Those are the qualities that draw me to games. Those are the values I try to bring to my Players and my worlds. My name is Teal ... I am a Character driven GM who prefers Fiction first, good Stories, Interesting Character developments, and Dice which change our understanding of what is happening. I have been Gaming since the late 70's. Many different Game Systems. A variety of styles of play. I have been on both sides of the Table (Player and GM). I try to ground my decisions in reality. I am definitely not a Rules As Written GM. But I am also not a Rule Of Cool GM. More like ... What Would Physics Do? But I run a lot of Magic heavy settings. So be aware that Mysticism Matters in my games. Physics and Mysticism ... oh my! I let my scenes breathe. I try not to rush Players. Often the most interesting things happen when we allow Roleplay the space to unfold. Combat is an Option in my games, not the only course at the table. And Combat, like other experiences, is very descriptive. Damage will come with Consequences. Your Character is not a bunch of Numbers. And if your fiction says something should work, it (most often) will. At the same time, we play to see who our Characters are, who they will become. If you have rigid ideas of who your Character is, you may not like my style of GMing. Expect for your Characters to Change, and maybe Grow. Enjoy the process and the journey.

I became a GM because
sometimes, I want to Set The Scene. And I like providing prompts for others to respond to.
How Our Emerging Stories | Teal runs games
We play to have meaningful experiences. Come collaborate with me. We share the Table, so remember to respect everyone. My games are Fiction First, Rules reflect Reality. The Dice are there to give the Story Life and add the Unexpected. I am flexible about the Rules, favoring the Fiction as a Guide over rigid interpretations. I love Homebrew and Game Design. I will adapt systems. Characters evolve, grow, surprise us as we play. I like Players sharing Authorship, though I do reserve final say on what fits the world. In rules lite games like Trophy, more responsibility is on the Players. Death is up to Player choice. If you want to continue playing your Character, you can. We will negotiate the Consequences of your Death or near Death, and arrange for your Character to continue forward in some fashion within the Fiction. Whether with new Scars, or as a Resurrected, or as a Ghost, you will continue to play the Character. The Consequences of Death are important, so there will be changes which affect your path forward. Backstories are optional. If you have an extensive Backstory, that is cool. Do understand that I treat Backstories as coming from Unreliable Narrators. So, there are things your Character does not remember, misremembers or never knew. Backstories will evolve as you play your Character. The Past contains surprises. If you have no Backstory, there will be a lot to learn about your Character. Awesome! For Campaigns, I run Prologues to situate the Characters.
Our Emerging Stories | Teal's ideal table
Immersive, Role Play focused worlds we can explore. Places to journey both through a forest, and through the forest within you. Shades of Grey. Nuanced tones of aqua, mustard and lilac. I am a long time Shadowrun/World of Darkness/Earthdawn GM/Player. My worlds reflect that. My games are not about dividing everyone up into Friend and Foe. At the same time, I don't usually run Grim Dark. There are still colors in the world. Times of peace. Places of plenty. But the world may make you think. You might engage and feel the delight or the suffering. Or both.
