I love stories that grow as players interact with the world around them, and the dice decide their faith. Horror and fantasy in a grim-dark, sci-fi or low-fantasy setting are my cup-of-tea, but I can venture into more fantastical realms. Personal? When not coding, growing veggies, or caring for the animals, I spend my time reading, playing, and building games.
I enjoy a sandbox setting with plenty of room for improv and unexpected turns. While a balanced game with role-playing, exploration, and combat at the core of things is the goal, a session can lean in a specific direction. Providing players the freedom to experience the stories they want leads to a successful long campaign for me. And the 'rule of cool' does exist as long as one can justify and narrate a sequence of events that is reasonable with the setting at that time.
