About Tiger @Nine Tiger Tales
Hello, fellow travelers! My name is Tiger and I've been into gaming and storytelling all of my life. I'm old enough to say that my first computer was a Compaq and my first video game console was an Atari 2600. If either of those names mean nothing to you, then I'm ancient and I'm looking for my walker because I forgot where I put it. I've been playing TTRPGs since red box, mostly in the various editions of D&D, but also several PbtA, L5R, and some indies. I've been GM-ing for several years now. This format of storytelling suits me well, and I really enjoy spending time with other folks of my tribe and community! I am a queer polyamorous gay man (he/him) with a husband and family. I make it a point to create a safe space for storytellers, no matter their backstory to express themselves authentically, with joy, passion, and creativity.

I became a GM because
I love telling stories. I've always written and played TTRPGs, but I didn't start diving into GMing until several years ago and found I love this format of storytelling. There's a sense of teamwork and camaraderie working with the players to tell stories that you don't get writing alone.
When I'm not running games I'm...
When I'm not running games I spend time with my poly family (husband and partner) cooking or baking, catching a live show in town, or hiking and walking with my dog. My partner and I are gaymers and anytime we're not doing the above, we're usually playing a game of some sort.
How Tiger @Nine Tiger Tales runs games
I love a good story, so tell me yours! I love following each player's heroic journey and weaving them all together to become the main storyline. I oftentimes don't actually know where I'm going with the main story arc until I'm able to learn about each hero and what trope each player wants to tell. I love making heroes truly feel heroic and a villain truly feel villainous, both in a relatable sort of way. My table tends to lean towards deep and meaningful roleplay, and exciting tactical combat. I hold space at my table for as many playstyles as possible while encouraging positive play habits and compassionate curiosity. This means that I welcome optimizers (minmaxers) who are looking to improve their social interaction and roleplay as well as socialites (role players) who appreciate intense, story-impacting conflicts. My storytelling style tends to lean towards cinematic in the scene setting and transitions. I'm very good at making scenes come alive and have correlation with real world references. I love the dynamic tension between dark, gritty, emotional moments, to the light, airy whimsy of high magic, and the random inane non-sequiturs and comedic jokes. I often hide easter eggs throughout the story that tell a parallel story, solve a puzzle, or relate to each other as an inside joke. It's one of the greatest joys in life to see somebody's face light up as they put all the pieces together.

My games focus on...
My games focus on fun and inclusion. I spend a lot of time establishing safety tools and encouraging safe and compassionate playstyles to ensure everybody at the table is heard, engaged, and having fun. I encourage players to use their creativity and imagination to make scenes as cool as possible.
Rules are...
Rules are important to assure that all players understand the structure in which we are playing and sets a standard level of expectation both from other players and from the GM. However, crunchy rules shouldn't slow the flow of the game. Rule of Cool is always in play to allow creativity/ingenuity.
Tiger @Nine Tiger Tales's ideal table
I don't believe players fit only into one category or type of player. There are good roleplayers that want to have an optimized build. There are optimizers who want to contribute to roleplay. The best players are those that can respect and appreciate each style for the benefits they bring to the table, and dedicate themselves to improving areas they are not as proficient. Everybody can learn how to be a better player from anybody else at the table.

I love it when a player
I love it when a player takes the initiative in a scene to ask the GM if they can do something creative and off-script. Extra kudo points if they can get the other players to exclaim or curse excitedly.
My table is not the place for...
My table has no place for non-inclusive behavior of any kind. Racism, sexism, bigotry, misogyny, etc. will learn the meaning of the Inclusivity Paradox. Main Character energy will also probably not find much love at my table, either.
