About Neil
I've been playing and running TRPGs since 2008, and I love learning, prepping, playing, and running different systems and styles of games. I've run games from Modiphius, Cubicle 7, World of Darkness, Free League, and more. I love running games for new and experienced players, and you'll always find a safe space at my table.

I became a GM because
I became a GM because I love stories- I love setting up worlds, characters, and events, just so players get the chance to shine as their best selves in a story and finish with a satisfying ending.
I got started GMing...
I got started GMing with Star Wars Saga Edition, then Dungeons & Dragons, Warhammer Fantasy 3rd Edition, and spread out from there.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Making adventures for TRPGs- I improve upon published adventures and/or core rulebooks for that ideal experience unique to each system I run.
How Neil runs games
Love roleplay, and love putting forth puzzling dilemmas with tough choices. Almost everything I have is a series of connected one-shots that can be played by itself, or played together with past characters and events coming back to remind you of your choices. I will also put forward trials and tribulations with one of two options, but am very open to, and encourage, a potentially even better *third* option for those who like to think outside the box.

I deal with rules issues by...
Whatever is the most fun- for example, I've run into rules that would require multiple rolls that slow down the game. With player consent, I'd encourage doing a single roll for the thing the player wants to accomplish.
My games focus on...
Roleplaying and player-choice. The world, characters, and situations change based on the players.
Rules are...
Rules are a great backdrop, but if it gets in the way of fun, I toss them aside. If I have to improvise away from the rules, it'll be in favour to the players as fun is the most important.

I love it when a player
When a player is really invested in the game. To care about the well-being or accomplishment of their actions, teammates, and/or the world at large.
I think metagaming...
Is fine! If you truly enjoy metagaming, go for it- build your character or talk strategies at the table. What's most important is that each person at the table is having fun.
I think min/maxing...
Is absolutely fine if that's what brings you the most joy as a player. If you want to be great at absolutely one thing, I'll be sure to include that one thing at least once a session.
