About Nando

With 16 years of experience as a game master, I have guided countless adventurers through the twists and turns of many fantastic stories. My journey began with Pathfinder 1st Edition, and over the years, I expanded my horizons to include Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, OSR games, and narrative-driven systems. Nowadays, I focus primarily on Pathfinder 2nd Edition, where I specialize in crafting immersive narratives that make players feel like an integral part of the story. I believe in the power of collaboration, weaving my player's ideas into the game to create a truly unique and engaging experience for everyone at the table.

I got started GMing...

Back when I was young, I was big into Fantasy and Anime. I have always heard about D&D, and when I turned 18, I came across a D&D 3.0 Monster Manual while studying for my college entrance exams. After photocopying as much of the book I could, I started creating my first dungeon for my friends!

When I'm not running games I'm...

Studying to become a commercial pilot! But whenever I'm not doing my best to keep the cessna up in the air, I'd usually be reading, or listening to music. Big fan of fantasy novels, and acoustic stuff.

How Nando runs games

My focus when mastering is crafting immersive narratives that place players' characters at the story's core. Every character has a unique tale, and I enjoy weaving these personal stories into the broader narrative, creating a rich world where players' choices and backgrounds have significant weight, making their journey meaningful and memorable. Roleplay is the cornerstone of my sessions. I encourage players to fully embody their characters, exploring their motivations, fears, and desires. Dialogue and character interactions take center stage, fostering authentic engagement and character growth. While combat has its place, it is secondary to the story and emotional beats driving the narrative. I use them when needed, focusing on their relevance to the story and characters.

I prep by

playing some music to get the creative juices flowing. Assigning them to a location, character, event, what-have-you. Then workshopping scenes that work with the music. There's also the matter of finding maps, art, and stats, but honestly that comes after I got my ideas sorted out.

My games focus on...

fun and telling a good story together! What can I say; I'm a sucker for the dramatic, and people having a good time.

Rules are...

A good starting point! They help form a baseline understanding on how the game will work for everyone involved, and allow us to make sure everyone has a fair time while playing. But sometimes, if a rule gets in the way of the fun, it doesn't hurt to bend it a bit, or throw it out entirely.

Nando's ideal table

An ideal table, for me, is filled with players that are actively engaged with one another's narratives first, and the general plot of the adventures second. I love to see people elevate one another, and work together to tell the best stories they can.
