About Mystic Moose
Who has time for introductions, the room is on fire and monsters abound! Nice to meet you, I'm Danny, or Moose online! If I had a stat block, you'd find a laid-back guy who loves running games and seeing how the players will go off the rails. Ease of use and flexible approaches are how I shuffle and manage games. I owe a lot to the social aspect of TTRPGs; I'm thankful I get to meet so many inspiring people! GM since 2020, started with 5e and branched into too many systems to count. I favor OSR sensibilities, emergent gameplay, and rule of cool. Troika, Shadowdark, anything Into the Odd, and Mörk Borg are my favorite systems. Wildsea, Slugblaster, or anything weird and sci-fantasy are my favorite settings. I enjoy TTRPGs as a lens for self-introspection, community building, and wacky 'oh sh--' moments that live with us forever. [No AI used in prep or facilitation. Ever.]

I became a GM because
I want to make space for us to adventure together, to allow players to discover things about themselves.
My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be
Troika, Liminal Horror, Shadowdark
People are always surprised when I tell them
how many situations I make up on the fly.
How Mystic Moose runs games
Discovery and emergent gameplay are pure gold. Engaging combat and puzzles form the backbone of character stakes, but not even I can predict where our games will go! It's up to you to save your hometown, after all. Let's find out what matters most to your character, and send them on their way. The game is the experience, not the combined solutions to problems. For ease of use, I tend towards theater of the mind, but digital play aids make frequent appearances. Rule of cool is king. If you've got a wacky plan, make it easy for me to say yes!

Mystic Moose's ideal table
Players with imaginative schemes or off-the-cuff solutions will thrive at my table. My tables are often conversational, laid-back, and half-immersed. I'll bring us back to center if we get too distracted, but synthesis is pivotal to the human experience. Characters who engage other party members in developing intent and goals always get a gold star from me. I can't make you care about anything in the world, all I can do is push you out the door. I'm a jokester at heart, puns likely earn Luck Coins from me.
