About Jakob Fife
Hi! My name is Jakob and have been playing DnD for about 5 years with 2 full campaigns under my belt for DMing. I prefer making one of a kind homebrew campaigns and would be excited to share them with others. I’ve played many games as a player and am pretty open to anything so long as it is friendly to the game itself and not intended to break the game as a whole.

I became a GM because
I enjoy story telling. I love creating worlds and telling their stories. DMing allows me to have more people to help tell that story and make it even more amazing than before!
I got started GMing...
By luck of the draw between my friends! We had a few people with interesting campaign ideas that wanted to be played and so we spun a wheel and mine was chosen.
When I'm not running games I'm...
I’m usually doing college work, my job, or playing games and figuring out more for my campaign worlds. Usually I’m thinking about my campaigns while doing the first three!
How Jakob Fife runs games
I’m very role play forward. Voices are optional of course but I tend to try to use unique voices for my characters and points for everyone to talk amongst yourselves in order to add to the story. I tend to gauge my combat based upon my players abilities and adjust as the game goes, allowing for more balanced encounters. I also enjoy random encounters while traveling to add some excitement to the more boring traveling segments.

I prep by
I prep by getting maps and story outlines ready. I know where I’d like everyone to be by the end of a session, but also allow open times for them to role play, have encounters and explore the world made! If they make it to the end goal early, side quests are always fun to add flavor to the world!
My games focus on...
My games focus on the story. I try to keep everyone involved and invested by giving them a reason to be there. Combat can be used to progress story and help keep players moving forward.
Rules are...
Rules are not always perfect. There are some things I will change and be upfront with in the beginning if there are changes I would be making for a campaign. I tend to lean to Rules as written when it comes to most things. I will make exceptions so long as it’s not detrimental to the game.
Jakob Fife's ideal table
Above everything, I want everyone to have a good time at the table. Those who enjoy a great story and immersing themselves into a fantastic and original world would make a great fit. I tend to lean towards role play but I know not everyone is super familiar with using voices, especially new players, so It’s totally ok if your character doesn’t have a voice or if you’re still trying to figure out your characters personality as we go! If you like combat, great! I try to make interesting encounters for my parties that aren’t just filler. I usually will gauge combat encounters as we go making sure that, while challenging, they will be fair and not overly difficult for the sake of a cool monster. I’m pretty relaxed and will use the “rule of cool” so long as it isn’t out of the realm of possibility. Go for the head? Ok, cool, roll for it!

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
If you’re into high fantasy and magic, you will love my table. My campaigns are heavily influenced by many different aspects of different fantasy worlds!
I love it when a player
I love it when players feel comfortable to voice their characters for the first time! It makes me happy to see that it’s finally coming together for them and can fully immerse themselves in the story.
I think min/maxing...
It has its place and I’m not entirely against it. However, I’m much more for playing your character rather than playing a broken build. I gauge combat encounters as we go so if I notice a group is struggling a little, I will dial it back. If they want an extra challenge I’ll give it too!
