About Morrigan
My name is Morrigan Stride and I'm looking to play more of the games I love most. I've been DM'ing a campaign in 5e for three years now and have learned much from that. On the side, I've run many one shots, some in different systems, all of which have been highly enjoyable. I'm a genre fiction writer from Vancouver with a deep love for blending fantasy, science fiction, and horror, so you can often expect a mix of the three to some degree in a session ran by me. I like the Elder Scrolls, all of Tolkien's work, the Locked Tomb series, Fromsoft games, and Revolutionary Girl Utena, so these can give you an idea of a lot of my major influences.

I became a GM because
I read, and re-read, (and re-read), my dads 3.5E DM Guide and Player Manual when I was 7, and I've been thinking about running games ever since.
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Vivid, passionate, flexible.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Studying history, literature, and creative writing at my university, cooking and baking, gaming, wood-burning, and getting ready for battle.
How Morrigan runs games
I like intricate settings, party cohesion, cudgelling players with their backstories, role-play, and a good fight. I, (almost), always want my players to beat me, I just like to see them sweat first. I engage in a lot of homebrew, so you can expect custom items, spells, bosses, and maybe even feats and subclasses. I really enjoy set piece locations, so expect haunted towers in marshes, sunken castles beneath the waves, and sprawling hoards of all varieties squirrelled away in caverns and vaults, (and other things of similar natures). It's unlikely that there will be combat every session, but they'll never be too far apart.

My favorite trope is...
The destructive power of love, baby!
Rules are...
A core aspect of games and a useful tool for playing pretend, but not so important that the supersede all other consideration. They are not a wall, they're a short fence; possible to jump over, and you can always ask the Gate Master to be let free.
Morrigan's ideal table
My table is best suited for players who can communicate what they want and what they're capable of during a session. At my table, I like to see players work together to manage tough encounters, uplift one another in roleplay scenes, and collaborate together in favour of telling the best story possible.

I love it when a player
Beats me, shocks me, tricks me, or screw me over. Some of my fondest memories as a DM have been moments where players schemed to pull the rug out from under me.
I think min/maxing...
Perfectly fine, as long as it doesn't become your top priority. There's nothing wrong with wanting to build a mechanically efficient character, I just don't want it to be the only thing a player cares about.
My perfect party mix is
Thematically and mechanically diverse. I really appreciate a party that plays into their roles, gets into specific niches, and fulfills radically differing kinds of tropes.
