About Moozapan

Howdy! I'm Moo. I'm 29, queer, neurodivergent, and a huge fantasy dork. I've been drawing since I was a kid. I grew up playing 3.5 with my older brother, and have dabbled with the reading in ADnD and setting up characters for such. Between age 10-12 I formed an obsession with drow lore and dragons. As a whole, I've been playing TTRPGs for almost 2 decades. :)

I became a GM because

I had started playing DnD with my older brother at a very young age and got hooked on the lore. I love playing and love fantasy, but know the problem where we all want to be a player, but not enough GMs. I decided I wanted to see these stories through, and was happy to be on either side of it.

My favorite books are

I really adore Vampire of the Mists followed by I,Strahd — both are major comfort novels for me that I reread or relisten to to feel calm and safe. I also quite enjoy Watership Down, Legends and Lattes, Bookshops and Bonedust, and the War of the Spiderqueen books.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Drawing, sewing, playing games, or reading. Or otherwise doing random fantasy research, map crafting, or trying to think of ways to expand my games. I'm a bit of a jack of all trade (master of none) with crafts.

How Moozapan runs games

I'm a roleplay heavy DM who loves to create visuals - be it maps or handouts. Also includes drawn art for characters or even silly memes that relate to what's happening in game. I'm pretty staunchly against the use of AI (or more specifically LLMs and generated art), so I try to bring hand made visuals and writing to the table. I try to harbor a safe space for those from all walks of life, I understand the importance of having a place to be comfortably and authentically 'you', and thus the catharsis of having the escapism of fantasy. I love seeing what others make and bring to the table, and really love seeing interpersonal character stories, arcs, and relationships grow and thrive. I often tell my players, "This is your story, I'm just here to help you guide it."

I prep by

I usually try to spend at the very least an hour of prep, but it depends. Usually, I include a recap of what happened to the party most recently, along with a brief description of the most recent character they've met.

Rules are...

Flexible. I tend to follow rule of cool. For the most part I like sticking by the rules, and don't mind being reminded of certain things. But if I can be given a convincing reason to bend a rule, I am willing to hear you out.

When it comes to voices

Oh I love trying to put on a good voice.

Moozapan's ideal table

I love passionate players! I love when people get really invested in their characters, and the over all story. It fuels my excitement to keep it going.

I love it when a player

Comes to me with questions and ideas on character plots.

My perfect party mix is

Invested, creative, and attentive. I love when players pick up on the subtle things I drop, or when they get that light bulb moment of suddenly all the puzzle pieces coming together. I do love a good silly moment, but I also love the held breath of anticipation.

My table is not the place for...

Bullies, point blank. I don't tolerate and meanness or snippy attitudes. Sometimes, I get that games get heated, but when/if that happens I will first call for a break, and then try to resolve the issue afterwards so we can proceed more smoothly.
