About Mittens

Hi there! My name's Diana, but you can call me Mittens. I was introduced to D&D shortly before the pandemic hit, and a few months later jumped into DMing trying to save an overeager friend. Since then I've been DMing for several different groups, mostly friends of friends and university One-Shot events. I usually run pre-written campaigns, but always add some homebrew to try and connect the characters to the world in some way. I've mostly DM'd for new players, so don't worry if you're new, I like teaching people how to play. I'm also LGBTQ+ and suspected autistic, so expect an inclusive table.

How Mittens runs games

I see GMing how most people see cooking: recipes are great, but you need your own personal touch at some point. For me, that means that while I'm running a prewritten module, I'll throw a splash of homebrew content once in a while to keep things flowing. I like to keep a good balance between the social side and the combat/dungeon crawling, and will throw something to spice up a stale campaign, from a casino heist to an Ace Attorney-style courtroom mystery. I also like to involve my players in the world, and will usually try to incorporate some of their backstory in any way I can. Speaking of players, expect custom magic items, encounters, or even whole dungeons, to fit specifically with your character. While I'll usually stick to the rules, I do try to leave openings for smart solutions. My applications of the Rule of Cool will usually be if it is clever and not gamebreaking. For me, nearly every scene is important, and I will do my best to set it right, be it with the right ambiance, adequate music, or the right map to give everyone as detailed an experience as possible. Every important NPC will be memorable, even if only because of the weird accents I give them. In short, I want everyone to have fun and will do my best to make it happen.

Rules are...

Mittens's ideal table

My usual tables are laid back, with jokes and silliness abounding, but always ready to swap to a more serious tone when the story demands it. I like players who are engaged with the story, the world, and the characters, but will make sure everyone gets their turn in the spotlight (unless they don't want to of course). But most importantly, my tables are a place to have fun and enjoy some tabletop games, and I try my hardest to make sure everyone has a good time.
