About Monika Klosin
Oh, hi there! I'm Monika, a Keeper who loves horror and whimsical adventures. I started playing ttrpgs about 5 years ago. I fell in love with Call of Cthulhu, I had no idea that ttrpgs didn’t just have to be fantasy adventure but could be in the genre of mystery and fright! I remember being so excited that my friend got me genuinely scared while running the module Blackwater Creek. Experiencing that fear and getting so invested in the story made me want to start Keeping for my friends. For the last 2 years I have been running one-shots for my friends and for the last 6 months I have started running the module Horror on the Orient Express. I love creating a stage with music and acting as the NPCS with props and voices for players to become as invested into the world as I am. I usually run games that start off light and happy, perhaps even comedic, then halfway I have a scene tied to the beat of a song to switch into the genre of horror. Though I haven’t run one yet, I also love sci-fi and fantasy and would enjoy running a game with that genre. If you’re looking for a game with music, house rules, mixing comedy with horror, NPCs with very good wooden mustaches, I would love to be your Keeper.

How Monika Klosin runs games
I narrate the my games to start off light and happy, then midway that is when things go.... totally fine! Call of Cthulhu is a horror game, but I do enjoy adding a bit of humor through roleplaying directly as NPCS. We are here to have a good whimsy time, house rules and laughing are the way to have fun during game sessions. I have curated a small collection of handmade mustaches and props to help distinguish who is who when multiple NPCS are in a scene and my voices don’t cut it. I love music and curating scenes with songs, it’s a huge part of my games. It brings me great joy to find a song that I can write a scene around. To have a sequence time just right with the highs and lows of a song is one of my favorite things to pull off. Per one-shot, on average, I have about 10 playlists.

I once ran a session...
Where my players threatened the villain npc right after seeing them reanimate a body. I handled it with grace, by teleporting one of them away to a safe location. My players demanded the npc to stay with them to "keep an eye on them". The rest of the session became pretty buddy cop after that
My games focus on...
Blending humor with horror, and making sure all my players feel immersed and welcome to interact with any NPC introduced
When it comes to voices
If I run out of them, I got my trusty pile of mustaches to help distinguish who is who
Monika Klosin's ideal table
The table gets serious during scary encounters with the cultists and other bad guys, but otherwise it is a mostly lighthearted game where players are role-play focused talking with the NPCs. I allow sometimes meta-game discussions between players (ex "should we go here? I don't know") but if they start planning in too much detail, I request their PCs have to be discussing this in game.

I love it when a player
Gets really into character and catches the subtle details in NPCs alibies. NPCs sometimes lie and it makes me super happy when someone catches that, and in character questions them.
I think metagaming...
I allow planning amongst yourselves irl for a small amount of time, but after I will request your PCs are plotting in game. Sometimes you are in tricky precarious situations, and it ruins the tension setup if you are able to plan while, realistically, your PCs wouldn't be able to.
My perfect party mix is
Players who collaborate and don't take themselves too seriously!
