About Alexander S.

Names Alexander. Graduated at UTD in mechanical engineering and currently work for an MEP Arch firm that specializes in designing restaraunts. Chili's, Hopdoddy, Hideaway Pizza, etc.. Ive been playing dnd and tabletop games for roughly 20 years. I've always been a daydreamer to a fault which made focusing in school kinda hard. I wanted to pilot mechs, plumb dark alien ruins, raise my sword with Aragorn at the black gate, traverse the spice laden dunes of Arrakis, kindle the flame; finish the mission. My imagination just kept churning...It wasn't until my first year of college that a buddy of mine introduced 3rd edition Dnd to me. We played a short game, maybe an hour, with just me and him, but within that session I found the outlet I never knew I needed. Dnd actually changed me for the better. Before long I was cranking out sessions of my own, leading weekly games at my local gaming store. I have run at least 10 WotC modules in some capacity with a big heavy lean on Tomb of Annihilation. I love me some dinos and zombies. I have completed that module 3 times with the final time having my brother step in as a cameo as Acerack.(it was awesome) Countless oneshots, that one Rick n Morty adventure..And when Covid hit, I of course went online to continue playing. I had more to say, but the word count cut me off lol. Join my discord channel and get to know me!

How Alexander S. runs games

Golden rule we all want to have fun. No one person is above that. Rule of cool. I want the player to feel cool when he takes his turn, meaning if he needed to use his/her/their bonus action before they took their action then let's just pretend that's how it went. No skin off my neck. All within reason. Improvisation and collaboration with players. We all are telling a story together. I want them to feel invested in the world I have presented. I am always open for questions. Even outside of the game, always fun to prep their character for the next session. Dark & High Fantasy. The souls games are a big inspiration for me so I try capture that gloomy atmosphere in most of my campaigns. But not every campaign i run is meant to be depressing. Tomb of Annihilation is filled with moments where the players should feel like they are on a grand adventure...only to be taken all away once they reach the tomb of the 9. Lol. Its all in good fun... I did run ToA past the Atropal, following the world serpent ending with dendar deep within the peaks of flame. It was called Beyond the Tomb. Theater of the mind. I love theater of the mind, its real easy for me, but I know most players need that graphic input to help keep things moving. Especially online. I make sure to keep enough material to present so players aren't confused.
