About Wes Gates
I've been DMing games off and on for around 9 years. I enjoy many different hobbies outside of TTRPGs, so I can talk about almost anything but I'm willing to learn anything from new people as I expound my knowledge. Generally I'm a low energy person, but when the hype is real for moments then I'm there yelling with players too. I try to be as much along for the ride as they are, even though I know where it ends. The beautiful part is TTRPGs still surprise me, and that's why I love them.

I got started GMing...
Because I wanted to make more stories with my friends both in the hilarity of them, and the epic nature that could ensue. My favorite part of it is that I'm writing a story with a variable, and even though I wrote it, there's still a rollercoaster of emotions I can get taken on.

How Wes Gates runs games
I enjoy making a great story first and foremost. For this to be most effective, everyone at the table has to have fun. I have a lot of conversations before on what people want, and I like to find ways to include what people want. I do have hard lines though, and if someone sets a hard line I will be the first to point it out. The point of us playing this game together is to have fun, and comfortability is important to that. Story settings I'm more of a grand adventure type person, however I will break it down for more bite-sized campaigns that people can enjoy and be a part of, and if we continue with the same story, I'm all the happier.
Wes Gates's ideal table
I will take any and all players, and help you try to build the parts of RPGing that you don't feel as comfortable with. I'm more RP focused than mechanically focused myself, but I enjoy knowing and handling mechanics for determining the unknown (or to help add pressure). For my players, all I ask is that you spend most of your focus on the game. While there are things outside, I'm focusing all of my effort entirely on the game, so I just ask you spend most of your focus on what we're doing.

I think min/maxing...
Is a path for some to have fun, but I don't. The parts I enjoy is watching people use their creativity to overcome their shortcomings. When the character is min/maxed I've noticed people will avoid them and I must apply thematic pressure, and that method just doesn't feel as fun.
