About Mike

Been playing d&d for a long time, when covid started I had the opportunity to have regular weekly games and I loved it. Unfortunately with my days off being Mondays and Tuesdays Im not able to get as much D&D as I want. I've tried making groups in LFG subreddits and Discord channels and while I've had some success, the bbeg of my games seems to be sudden scheduling issues. I was in paid games as a player during Covid and I felt they were a lot more enjoyable because rarly did a player not show up without 24 hours notice, almost everyone took notes and everyone felt invested into their characters. Getting 4-5 adults together for a game has been hard and I am hoping that with this I am able to play a higher quality of game with a consistent cast of people. Currently running a game for my Monday players, been playing with them for 5ish years, we did Rime of the Frostmaiden & Waterdeep as campaigns before as well as some homebrew creations.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Either prepping for my next game, playing some video games or catching up on my reading list. Recently started playing Arc Raiders and that's been fun. Big fan of the Prince of Persia series. Currently reading through House of Leaves.

How Mike runs games

I would say I'm a storyteller, im focused on the plot, how the characters interact with the world and the butterfly effect of their actions. I like crafting custom puzzles, riddles and magic items for my players. I lean more towards the rule of cool, for example bad guy that killed your grandfather is prone at 1hp, its your turn. I could make you roll, but id rather let you take your revenge or spare them with no roll required. Most of the time I of course will be rolling as the dice have their part to play in our stories I dont like locking an intense moment of roleplay behind a d20 roll.

Mike's ideal table

Inclusive, friendly, a little chaotic. If you're someone who would enjoy an entire session of just roleplay and shenanigans then you'd most likely enjoy my tables.

My table is not the place for...

Any sort of bigotry. This is an inclusive space open to all. Any use of gen ai. I will not be using Ai for anything in my games and ask that my players do the same.
