About Derek Mayne

Hi everyone, my name is Derek Mayne and I have been playing RPG games since my mid teens, but it was during my time at university in the late 1980's that I took on the GM's mantle and 35+ years on I'm still running regular games. I have made friendships at the games table that are literally laughing in father times wrinkled old face. I love all manner of games and run a wild and wide variety of systems - currently I'm heavily into games by Free League especially Mork Borg, Alien, Forbidden Lands and Coriolis. I have a penchant for the darkly humorous and I'm a huge fan of the works of HP. Lovecraft. I'm all about further promoting the RPG hobby and reinforcing the friendly, creative and social aspects of roleplaying. In my mind the only good thing to come out of the pandemic is the explosion in online games and the rapid development of virtual tabletops allowing us to play together wherever we are in the world. I hope to see you at my tabletop sometime. Everyone is welcome.

How Derek Mayne runs games

My style is relaxed and inclusive and I love story led games, strong backgrounds and seeing characters develop. I like to run age appropriate games - don't mind players from mid-teens to mid-ninety's. I will use safety systems and I won't tolerate discrimination or hate. That said I won't shy away from adult themes and horror with the right groups. I enjoy active players and systems that give players a chance to affect the narrative - it's about sharing the fun!
