About Mimu Neo

I'm a long-time GM with past campaigns consistently reaching high levels and past 50 sessions, with no end to the number of stories, character arcs, and unforgettable moments! My longest running game was an expanded Curse of Strahd module that ended with a climactic final battle, an epilogue session where the party members agreed to continue their journey together, and riding off into the sunrise. I even edited together a custom credits sequence; honoring all the map and NPC artists, supplemental content creators, and the party members themselves. Past this game, all the campaigns I've run and currently run are chock full of narrative delight, engaging combat, tense roleplay that never leaves anyone by the wayside, and character arcs that make you look back to the start and wonder just how far you've come.

I became a GM because

I LOVE the process behind narrative-weaving and coming up with story elements alongside the players. To me, the fun of games like D&D has always been the ability to create stories in real-time with other cool people! The process of writing a story on your own is fun, but even better in a group.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Attentive, communicative, enthusiastic

When I'm not running games I'm...

Aquascaping, taking care of animals, building wildlife ponds, and all around spending as much time in nature as I can. I also love animation, specifically shows like Mighty Nein, Castlevania, Dragon Prince, Avatar/Korra, and some anime.

How Mimu Neo runs games

I'm a roleplay-oriented GM who loves the collaborative story-telling and tense improv potential ttrpg's can offer! I keep the rules readily at-hand, but prioritize keeping the momentum of a session going, and making the three pillars of roleplay, exploration, and combat as rewarding for my players as possible. I put my heart and soul into all my games; practicing accents and unique voices, reaching out to artists to commission work on maps or important NPCs, and putting in the effort to give every party member the openings they need to get involved. I have never had a player go away from my sessions dissatisfied, or feeling like their time was poorly spent.

I deal with rules issues by...

Hearing out a player's interpretation. Even if I disagree, and as long as there's no immediate objection from other players, I'll keep it in for the session for the sake of keeping momentum. Afterwards, I'll circle back and put it to a vote with the whole group if that ruling should stay.

I prep by

Writing out locations, NPC's, and plot threads the players are likely to follow. If the players should go in a completely different direction than I expected, I improvise and make it work. No matter if its prepped or not, I make sure player interaction is satisfying, and choices impact the game.

When it comes to voices

I go all out without making every NPC sound comically over the top; though some of them do get that privilege. I differentiate as many NPCs as I can based on voice, so it's easier for players to quickly tell who's talking.

Mimu Neo's ideal table

I don't expect much aside from a group that's respectful of one-another, eager to have fun, and collaborative both in and out of game. Communication is key no matter what! If we can't talk and work out potential issues with each-other, the campaign won't last long. It can be difficult broaching an awkward topic with others, especially if the group hasn't been together for long. Which is why I pride myself in helping players get involved in the game and have an equal voice with the rest of the party, to ensure there's no imbalance or feeling of alienation in what's supposed to be a fun experience.
