About me
Hi! My name is Donte(Also Known as Midnight). I'm a writer, video gamer, and a ttrpg player to boot. I have been running games for well over 10 years now, and after finishing my last campaign my players recommended I try this! I have long been fascinated by interactive storytelling. There is such wonder that comes from a good story. It doesn't matter the medium or the platform, stories comes in many shapes and sizes. But no matter how they appear they all have the ability to amaze. When I ran into the world of Ttrpgs, well, I thought I was dreaming. A collaborative storytelling experience with action, failure, triumph, and comedy. "No shot" I said. I was wrong.
GM Style
I have a love hate relationship with this question, and that's mostly because I think good DM's adapt to the people at there table. NOW!... That doesn't mean I don't have a style. But I think my point does stand. I think most of my style can be determined by my moto. (Something my players are probably ohh so tiered of hearing.) This moto is simple. Narrative Above All: I find that a strong, interesting, engaging, or even funny narrative will always be better than a stubborn rule or lack of rules. I view roleplaying games as a collaborative story that happens to have rules that can help you along the way, and thus that's how I run them. Ratio: All my games typically have high roleplay, medium combat, high exploration, and low puzzles. This does change slightly based on my players and the system, but this is the general run down. Out side of that, I usually run rather sandboxy games. Sandbox: To clarify. I don't mean I throw people into a world with no direction or possible quest ideas, but it does mean I spend a lot of time trying to figure out what kind of story the players are interested in. At the beginning of a campaign I usually have 3+ long term campaign ideas that the players can explore. This allows for that sandbox feel, without running into the serious issues that arrive when people have no direction at all!

Storytelling
I've been a player of Midnights for a few years, both my love and understanding about DnD is thanks to him. He's a vivid storyteller and the way he brings the story and NPC's to life has helped me grow more comfortable in my own roleplaying and charcter building. His DM style has allowed for me to be as creative as I want, even rolling badly helps me feel like I'm contributing to the story.
