About Mike
Hey folks, I'm Mike! I am a big time gamer, hobby enthusiast and mental health counsellor. I love when games and hobbies bring people together and create pocket communities filled with support and inside jokes. I find most joy in games that require deep mechanics, collaboration, teamwork from Warhammer, Dota 2, and Magic the Gathering commander format. However, my biggest passion has been for TTRPGs, a love affair that has lasted over 15 years. I think the key to a great time in any hobby is prioritising the fun and TTRPGs are no different. Life is full of difficulties and stress, and we all deserve a way to disconnect for a while and immerse ourselves in fantasy. That is why I prioritise communication, being approachable and friendly to my players. If we all prioritise fun, then we all know we are working towards the same goal as a team. I have a love of investing time to help others get more confident in new systems or with role-playing in general. I am no voice-actor or master of accents, but I commit to the character and the bit 100% anyway. I love to run worlds that are consistent and reactive to the players, making your actions, attitudes and relationships matter to the world around you. This is the part of TTRPGs that video games can never match, and is always at the forefront at my games.

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be
Firstly, I would take Star Wars FFG. The perfect system-to-setting combo. The second system I would take is Pathfinder 2E. For me, it just has the most rewarding combat. Lastly is Public Access. I've not played it yet. But I am determined to be a player in this game one day. Literal chills.
How Mike runs games
In my games you can expect NPCs, Villains and for the story to react to you. I love cause and affect, and not always in a punitive way. If your party consistently says yes to adventure and lends a hand around town, suddenly the shops might drop helpful discounts and encourage others to seek you out. Ignore the etiquette of the locals and cause a constant ruckus? Don't expect the mayor to invite you to local council meetings. I love incorporating character backstories and personal villains into my games, making every adventure path and story feel personal to you. Also, my love for professional wrestling requires me to inform you I live for the pop, the epic comebacks and high-stakes drama (with a lot of tomfoolery weaved in). In combat I describe my games as a challenge. I offer up difficult encounters that often deviate or expand upon versions in adventure paths. At times, my games will push characters to their limits, and sometimes players characters will die, but I don't run character meat grinders. Death is always dramatic, even if it is sudden and unlucky. Each character death should be a major event and not a frequent occurrence. I also love to help and guide players during combat, I'm always ready to answer questions or encourage innovation, working with you to make your turn matter to you. I heavily encourage teamwork and love nothing more than when a group comes together to completely thwart a bad guy through smart coordinated plays.
