About me

I've been playing TTRPGs for 20 years, and I've been a GM for 15 years. I love working with new players, and in the last 10 years, every campaign I've run has included someone completely new to roleplaying. I do my best to foster an open and inclusive table where even shy players can grow and shine. I've run pre-written adventures and homebrew games alike, and I'm familiar with a large array of game systems, including but not limited to D&D, Pathfinder, World of Darkness, Fate, and Call of Cthulhu. I have a Gamemaster license for Foundry VTT and have been running my personal games from it for about three years, and I often use my programming skills to add new features to bring to life the VTT experience. I'm also happy to run games in person if you and your friends are NYC-local and I have a full set of monster pawns, Chessex maps, and extra dice for in-person gaming.

GM Style

I will always tailor my games to the preferences of my players. While I'm more than happy to run a hack-and-slash game, I personally love to see my players engaging in roleplay and support creative solutions to problems and encounters. When the table is enjoying exploring their characters through roleplay with each other and the world, I like to give them space and time rather than push the story forward unnecessarily. I try to make sure that every player has a chance in the spotlight, and that everyone is having fun. From one of my longtime players: "Inclusive, well-prepared, lore-intensive, serious, rule-strict but without jeopardizing the Rule of Cool" I also believe strongly in holding a session 0 where players meet, expectations are discussed, boundaries are set, and house rules are explained, so everyone is on the same page from the beginning of the campaign to the end. I have run high fantasy, low fantasy, horror, cyberpunk, supernatural, and superhero games, and I love them all. If there's a game system not on my list above that you're interested in, reach out. I'm always down to learn new systems. Feel free to check me out on my website as well: http://www.brooklyngamemaster.com/
