About Maiya
Hi! I'm Maiya, an artist, game designer, and professional Game Master. I started running D&D 5e games for my friends and immediately fell in love with the medium. Since then, I’ve branched out into systems like Cyberpunk RED and Daggerheart, crafted collaborative fantasy worlds, and even been developing my own TTRPG system. To me, tabletop RPGs are a way to express creativity and bring stories to life with others. I often find myself talking with players daily about upcoming sessions and what we’re all excited to explore next. TTRPGs have been deeply meaningful to me, helping to heal my soul and giving me a creative outlet I can share with the world. Growing up in the USA and spending three years in Japan has also greatly influenced my storytelling and artistic vision. In my games, I prioritize collaborative storytelling, crafting worlds and stories together with my players. I love roleplay-heavy sessions with immersive storytelling, but when combat occurs, it’s challenging and high-stakes, making every encounter feel intense and meaningful.

How Maiya runs games
My players have referred to me sometimes as “Chekov’s GM”: I love crafting high-stakes narratives where mystery, discovery, and drama drive the story. Every piece I introduce, I like to pay off later. I focus on collaborative storytelling, making sure the narrative isn’t just mine, but something the whole table shapes together. Together, we create unique tales that players will remember for years to come.

I think metagaming...
can't always be avoided, but should be used minimally. Roleplaying to me means playing the role even if you know it might be bad...
