About Lyra
Hi, I'm Lyra, a 20 year old trans woman, running TTRPGs almost constantly since the 8th grade. I love horror media, from movies and TV to books, podcasts, and games. I frequently draw inspiration from these when planning TTRPG sessions. Some of my earliest memories are of telling stories to my peers, whether to entertain or just for personal enjoyment. My short story "My fingers still search for her" was published in Plenitude Magazine in 2025 and can be read here: https://plenitudemagazine.ca/my-fingers-still-search-for-her.

How Lyra runs games
My style tends to be on the more prosaic side with heavy emphasis on role play and world building. I primarily run horror games which tend to range from genuinely disturbing to a little spooky. When I run combat it tends to be short and punchy, usually with an additional element, such as a puzzle or roleplay. I try not to spell plot elements out too explicitly, relying on my players to come to their own conclusions and realizations about the world and the characters within it. Overall the games I run tend to have tense atmospheres with intrigue and mystery around every corner, rarely does everything feel fully explained or understood.

I prep by
Screaming into the void for a handful of hours, crying, realizing I need to do something, writing obsessively for multiple hours while cackling. Rinse and repeat.
My games focus on...
Personal conflicts and horrors against a backdrop of political strife and conspiracy, cosmic uncertainty, and world ending terrors.
Lyra's ideal table
I love a note taker just as much as someone who invests time into thinking about their character and role plays extensively. The stories I tell with my games cannot be told alone, I need player buy-in and involvement to propel the plot.

I think metagaming...
Should be minimized but I'm okay if it happens. For example if a player recognized a reference I'm making they may be able to predict some plot elements. I would not hold it against that player for acting accordingly but I might if their behavior goes beyond reason or they spoil it for others.
