About Lens
Forever passionate participant and observer of the arts. I love to create and see creative people out in the world! Technically played since I was a child, but really got into DMing in early 2019, picking up the role and falling in love with the hobby ever since. My games focus on the storybuilding aspect, encouraging player creativity & freedom. If you let me know what you want out of your character, I will give you the means to pursue it! We all love a good story, and those are best told together

I became a GM because
I love stories above all else, and that's exactly what TTRPG's let you do with friends
I got started GMing...
After inspiration from D&D Podcasts; They showed me how gratifying and fun it can be to weave a story with people, and the bonds formed over this hobby is a testament to that notion!
When I'm not running games I'm...
Playing PC games, fantasy RPG's are a big source of inspiration in my campaigns
How Lens runs games
I run my games with a big emphasis on roleplay/narrative, encouraging all at the table to embrace your characters! I work with my players to let them pursue the story they're looking to experience. Always love to use accents and voices to roleplay various NPC's, building stories highly centered around specific tones and settings. I am a big map enthusiast, ensuring that there is almost always some kind of visual reference for the party. At my table, the mood is loose, rule of cool is encouraged, and above all else, player enjoyment!

I deal with rules issues by...
Coming up with a temporary solution, then discussing the issue with the player(s) at the table.
My games focus on...
The plot; the story of the campaign itself is important, but I strive to give each and every player at my table a shot to play out the arc they want to see their character go through!
Rules are...
guidelines; to be respected, but changed if the table's not having fun with it
Lens 's ideal table
Roleplaying enthusiasts and fans of the narrative aspect of TTRPGs will click best at my table! Though I am absolutely a fan of combat and the storytelling potential within that, I enjoy cooperatively crafting a story with my players, working to present them with any requests made for their personal arcs, as well as working them into the overall narrative of the campaign itself. My campaign settings are typically high fantasy, with variations in tone. I have ran campaigns from classic exploration/dungeon diving, to 'evil fantasy crime syndicate'!

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
A spotlight-based presentation to roleplay your character
I love it when a player
goes into detail about how their character does something. Your PC is unique, and I love to see when players start a narratively engaging experience!
I think it's a red flag when players...
try to instruct other players on what they think is 'optimal'. Always respect other players at your table to make their own character choices, that's what the game is all about!
