About Mack

Hey, I'm Mack! I've been a GM for about ten years. I've run a couple multi year campaigns to level 20. I love the collaborative story telling aspect of ttrpgs, whether it's great sweeping epics or smaller knit adventures, whatever's fun for all. Ultimately, I see ttrgps as another form of hanging out, albeit through an informed improv frame. I like playing with people who want to hang out, have fun, laugh and be serious when we have to. I'm not hugely familiar with VTTs, but I'm learning! You can expect homebrew rules, worlds, and stories affected by player decision. At the end of the day, we're doing this thing together. Expect high fantasy, high stakes, and deadly encounters.

How Mack runs games

I've been told I'm pretty immersive! At the table I always make a player a mini, and build a bunch of terrain. Over the internet it'll be a little different, but I'm looking for players interested in collaborative high fantasy story telling in homebrew worlds, high stakes combat and deadly encounters, items need to be used, player decisions matter, and the heroes hopefully prevail, and sometimes at a cost. I'll respect the rule of cool, and hear you out when you're trying something weird. I encourage roleplay, and will award it fittingly. At the same time, I enjoy dangerous combat, with multiple goals, and reward creativity. I can do multiple unique voices (until they eventually blur) but I'm no voice actor. Instead, you'll get get campaigns filled with short and long form storytelling, but one dictated by character actions and adapted to the player character's interests. I do incorporate homebrew, but these are rules we'll agree on together. Fair warning, while I often like hopeful and whimsical adventure, I am equally as game to play into horror aspects of high fantasy with grimdark tones.

Mack's ideal table

I think players will be satisfied with my table if they enjoy combat, and enjoy roleplay. Combat has consequences, and so will roleplay. Your actions will impact the world. There will be conspiracy, there will be danger, there will be valiant saves and terrible repercussions. I'm here for the stakes and the laughs and the great moments. Homebrew rules I like: -Bonus action potion -Dazed instead of stun (-2 penalty to AC and dex saving throw, Cannot take reactions, Next attack against it has advantage, Movement is halved, Can perform one action or bonus action) -Death Saves are rolled in secret until another character checks on the downed player character. -Falling damage is 1d10 per ten feet - there is no cap. -The God Call, or the Devil's Bargain
