About SG
I'm SG, your friendly little game gremlin. I'm 35, and I've been doing text-based RP for over 20 years. My goal as a GM is always to work with players to craft a fun and interesting narrative together. I'm willing to try new systems, to homebrew mechanics as needed, or to go very freeform, depending on player wants.

My favorite books are
I eat, sleep, and breathe The Locked Tomb.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Doing text-based RP as a player, writing, doing art, doing literary analysis for fun, thinking about The Characters, and generally being a nerd.
How SG runs games
I love roleplay, and I love really digging into the meat of characters and interpersonal dynamics. My favorite theme is hope in the face of despair, whether it's struggling to survive and taking comfort in the small joys along the way or defiantly striving to make a miserable world a better place or anything else. That said, I do also sometimes enjoy some more over-the-top and silly roleplay. Rule of Cool and Rule of Funny have their limits, but I do enjoy both.

My games focus on...
Character exploration, working through arcs and developing interpersonal dynamics. I'm also happy to incorporate other elements players want to see more of. I find it easier and more enjoyable to cater to requests than to make most directional decisions alone. We're telling stories together!
Rules are...
Rules exist for structure and balance, but they're ultimately guidelines, not immutable laws. Sometimes bending or breaking rules defeats the purpose or simply makes things less fun, but when it makes things more fun for everyone, there's no harm in trying something new.
SG's ideal table
I want passionate players who are excited about their characters, and to help take everyone's ideas and weave them together. I want players who will communicate, tell me what they enjoy and what they don't and what they want to see more of.

My table is not the place for...
I'm not the DM for very crunchy mechanics, very punishing mechanics, or lots of grinding combat. Unexpected fights can happen, of course, but I prefer when most combat is more narratively meaningful.
