About Jupiter
Hello! I go by Jupiter, and I have a deep and abiding love for TTRPGs that I want to give to as many tables as possible. I rolled my first d20 with my middle school friends in a snowed-in cabin, and have been spellbound to the wonderful worlds we make together ever since. I've been playing and running games whenever I can, and have been GMing for the better part of a decade now. In addition, I've been taught by a community of master-class GMs and players on how to run for a beautiful multitude of tables, and I'd love to share what they've given me to as many people as I can. I've got a personal preference for urban fantasy/urban horror games, with my favorite DMing moments to date being from those games/genres. But beyond that, I love running any system that rewards player creativity, strong cooperative roleplaying, and a desire to engage with your character and the world. My favorite games that I've run are Vampire: The Masquerade, a multi-season chronicle in my own hometown, and a truly mind-bending Wildsea campaign with the trippiest ending I've ever seen.

I got started GMing...
In a library club for other kids, I ran games during middle school. Taught me some of the most important GMing lessons I ever got, and gave me my first TTRPG horror stories!
My favorite shows/movies are
I love unsettling supernatural/weird thrillers! Some of my favorite shows/movies are Archive 81, Severance, Suspiria, and Sinners. 10 points if you can see how these lean into my favorite games lol.
How Jupiter runs games
I believe that I am best at setting up good roleplaying opportunities for my player(s). This isn't to say that I neglect combat or exploration in my games, but I believe that good roleplaying moments can be more memorable than the other two. I love working with my players in order to set up dramatic, thrilling, heartbreaking, and triumphant character arcs/scenes for them. I also am partial to constructing mysteries and love hearing the table theorize about what's going on. Furthermore, I equally love the 'gotcha' feeling that a cunning player gets when they are one step ahead of me and the shock a player has when they realize that they've been played the whole time. In regard to combat, I focus on making my fights dramatic and story-focused, and also a tactical puzzle to overcome. I care a lot on balance and ensuring that the players have to work for victory, but that they also will have ample opportunity to use their coolest power and cleverest strategies. Exploration goes hand-in-hand with mystery/intrigue, so I prioritize the sense of wonder and discovery that makes exploration truly fun, taking the opportunity to flex my descriptions and truly immerse my players in the worlds we make together.
Jupiter's ideal table
My tables are focused on the roleplaying part of TTRPGs, so come prepared to interact with the other players and lose yourself in the character! Players who are good at playing off of each other, good at giving description to their actions in puzzles/combat, and being excited about each other's stories as they are their own will be a good fit at my table.

I think min/maxing...
Is totally fine, as long as there's an interesting character alongside those cool stats/weapons!
My table is not the place for...
People who come in with a 100% set-in-stone completed character concept. I respect preparation and greatly appreciate when people come with clear ideas, but I believe that at least character backstories/personalities are benefited by table/story input.
