About Judas

Hi! I'm Judas (they/them), I'm a 26 year old disabled latino who has been playing D&D for 11 years now, going on 12, with 7 years of GMing experience under my belt. Like many GMs, I have had many ups and downs both as a player and as a GM, and it's the ups that always keep me coming back for more. I refuse to let the downs keep me away from something I love so much. Dungeons & Dragons is truly one of the greatest loves of my life, and running D&D is something that brings me such great joy I can't imagine not spending my weeknights doing this, to miss a session is always a little sad. I have run many one shots and a few different attempts at running Curse of Strahd, though ultimately those were short lived due to past health issues. I am currently working on wrapping up a 3-year long Waterdeep Dragon Heist campaign, which has been such a wonderful journey, and I am deeply excited for what lies ahead for me with DMing and the campaigns I have planned.

I got started GMing...

Because a group of college friends and I wanted to play D&D and I had the most experience out of everyone, so I ended up taking on the role. Even after that group disbanded, I kept volunteering to DM for other friends and here I am now, completely in love with it!

How Judas runs games

I will never use AI for anything, and I strictly ban it from my table. My biggest strength lies in designing games, even pre-written modules, around the player characters and their motivations and connections to the world. Roleplay is where I thrive the most, I love to play the parts of the various NPCs my players will encounter and play around with the different kinds of voices I can do. I love to explore the depth of relationships between PCs as well as PCs and NPCs. As for combat, I certainly prefer for it to be high-stakes and emotional when appropriate, but not every encounter will call for that. Though the more I DM, the more I find it important to ensure combat is narratively important most of the time. I love creating props and providing my players with visual assets to create immersion, I love using beautiful maps, art and music to accompany the narration and encounters. I also really enjoy creating puzzles and handing those to my players when it's fitting.

Rules are...

A helpful guide, but not absolute law. I will happily bend the rules a little if it's in favor of the story and the narrative.

Judas's ideal table

My table is an inclusive and friendly space for players of marginalized identities. If you are queer, a person of color, disabled, neurodivergent... any combination of the above, I promise you will find a place you fit in at my table. It is absolutely fundamental to me to create and provide an environment where people feel safe and comfortable. On a more technical side, players who care about the narrative above all, love roleplay, developing backstories and weaving their stories into the world will find enjoyment at my table. A good sense of humor is also always a bonus, I'm frequently one to make silly jokes or use silly voices.
