About me
Hi! Thanks for stopping by! My name's Jose & I've been playing TTRPGs for about 30 years. Not long after I started playing D&D as a kid, I realized what a fantastic medium RPGs are for storytelling. I also realized I had a lot of stories to tell, so I began DMing a home campaign, and never looked back. I've run and played various TTRPGs over the years: 2e-5e D&D (all settings), Battlelords, Werewolf, Call of Cthulu, Streetfighter the RPG (yeah, you read that right), Vampire, etc. But my favorite will probably always be D&D, if only because of all of the fond memories it holds for me. In 2000, I discovered organized play, and a few years later, I applied & was chosen to be one of three regional administrators in the Mid-Atlantic for WotC's Living Greyhawk (3e D&D) Campaign . In my two years in that position, I was the Story Lead for one of our series, wrote nearly a dozen adventures for the campaign, edited many more, and ran hundreds of tables at dozens of gaming conventions. I also happen to be an artist/illustrator, and while I made a living doing one kind of art, my personal work was primarily fantasy art. My steady job in the arts ended near the beginning of the pandemic, so my side gigs doing fantasy art commissions became more important, and recently, I decided to try my hand at using my other skill set by jumping into professional DMing. I'm a storyteller, but in reality, the game is best when the storytelling is shared. I look forward to hearing what stories *you* want to tell.
GM Style
There're as many ways to play D&D as there are people in the world, and none of them are wrong. If you sign up to one of my games, here's the rundown of what you can expect at my table: 👨👩👧👦Roleplay is key to interacting with the world & your fellow players. I want to hear your character's background, and I'll strive to weave them into the story when possible. I encourage cooperation & creative problem-solving, and I want to hear your character voice if you have one...because I certainly do! 🏹Combat is a part of life for an adventurer, and will often challenge you to use that cooperation & problem-solving I mentioned above. The baddies tend to be cunning and motivated and the environment will always pose an added challenge, or a blessed advantage. 🌍Exploration is interacting with the setting, and finding out what unique challenges it holds. It can be an involved room-to-room search during a murder investigation, puzzling your way though a trap-filled cavern, or simply making your way from village A to village B. It can be as involved or as cursory as you, the players, want it to be. Expect your skills and background to play a role in how you deal with the world around you. What else can you expect? 🎭Cooperative RP: Yes. PvP: No. 🧯A safe environment with zero-tolerance for harassment or bigotry. 🧙♂️A living world where NPCs are more than cardboard cutouts. 🎇A table where everyone has a chance to shine, even the quiet players. 🌈Custom maps, assets & art to fully bring the world to life. 🐉Official & indie content for D&D 5e, including custom monsters. 🔛 Interactive adventures & play experiences where choices matter. 🎨A custom character portrait for players who play a whole campaign. In the end, I want to facilitate a rewarding TTRPG experience full of laughter, excitement, drama, heroic (& not-so-heroic) moments, and most importantly, fun, because that is what makes all of this worthwhile.
