About Jett
Hi, I'm Jett (they/them)! I’ve been playing TTRPGs for over a decade and have been a GM/DM for 9 years, running games online here on SPG, at bar events, game stores, and board game clubs in NYC, and at many lovely home tables far and wide! I love creating roleplay-rich tables that are safe, respectful, and inclusive to all. Fostering an environment of safety, mutual respect, curiosity, and fun is deeply important to me. I focus on creating games for my queer community and all folks of marginalized experience, but I GM for everyone who is down to take care of each other and play! From silly to serious, I just love telling good stories with a great group of people. If that sounds good to you, pull up a chair, help me put my theater and creative writing degrees to use, and come have some fun!

I became a GM because
there were a lot of people in my life who wanted to play and nobody who wanted to GM: the classic tale! I quickly came to enjoy the challenge of GMing, however, and prefer GMing to playing 9 times out of 10 (though I still relish the few opportunities I have to be a PC when they arise!)
People are always surprised when I tell them
about some of my real-life adventures! I've been fortunate enough to do some pretty wacky things in my life, and I think those experiences help me write unique and interesting, yet grounded stories and worlds for my players to enjoy and use as their sandbox!
When I'm not running games I'm...
Performing the sacred duty of Drag Squire™️ for my drag king partner, caring for my menagerie of reptiles and crustaceans, perfecting my dim sum making skills, playing video games, making strange crafts, and being a fun-loving New York weirdo!
How Jett runs games
TTRPGs are collaborative storytelling experiences at their heart, and I run games that make room for everyone to bring their unique piece to the story we tell together! I love to create roleplay-heavy games where players are safe to immerse themselves in the environment and dig deep into a good story with one another. I also like a balance with combat and strategy in systems that support it. I bring a good narrative sense, improv skills, some fun character voices, and the adaptability necessary to nudge the game in the direction the players find most interesting. I'm a sucker for a good mystery and a fun twist. Safety tools are always used at my tables and each campaign starts with a survey to make sure I and your fellow players know where the guard rails are. I strongly believe this empowers players to play confidently and comfortably, especially with new friends from the internet!

I deal with rules issues by...
using the wealth of information online to determine if a rule is cut-and-dry or open to interpretation. If there's community consensus, I take that as the rule. If it's up to GM discretion, I'll explain my ruling to the players and ensure they feel it's fair. Rule of cool applied when warranted!
If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...
Rian Johnson (I hope!) We're both suckers for a good parlor mystery or a film noir, and aren't afraid of bold characters / settings / styles and complex yet rewarding plots. Plus, we both love the Mountain Goats to a possibly unhealthy degree.
When it comes to voices
I'm not afraid to go all in! I have a stable of silly guys who live in my head, and I love rotating through the NPC roster. For my players, I think they should choose an expression for their character that is most fun and comfortable for them. If that includes a voice, great! If not, also great!
Jett's ideal table
My tables are great for players who are excited about collective storytelling and character growth / development. I make sure all my players' characters are firmly connected to the world and circumstances and provide real stakes to challenge those characters so that in the end, we tell an awesome and epic story together where everyone's character matters. Strategy, tactics, and combat are still a healthy part of my games, but role play really sets my tables apart.

I am for a vibe that's...
Inclusive, supportive, respectful, and fun. When players feel they can really trust each other, they create the best stories and games and feel more comfortable taking big swings and risks. I firmly believe that good world-building starts above the table with how we treat one another.
I love it when a player
Takes a big swing or makes a messy choice for their character. I appreciate strategic gameplay, but moments where players allow their character to be flawed often lead to the richest story moments and create chances for major redemptions! Just good crunchy story stuff :)
I think min/maxing...
has a place in games where everyone at the table is excited to min-max. If everyone isn't on-board, I find it leads to disappointment for the min-maxed character. Certain challenges in gameplay become way too easy, and everything outside of your wheelhouse becomes nearly impossible.
