About me
Greetings! I'm a game designer for table top role-playing games by night and video games by day with a love for compassionate characters, meddling grannies, and all sorts of mischief. At my table you can expect a fun time, character voices, inclusiveness and some slight fudging of the rules for the narrative. My games are PG-13 so you can play with anyone but that doesn't mean there aren't consequences! Fantasy, sci-fi, and septuagenarian horror are my wheelhouse. Currently my favorite games are Pathfinder, Brindlewood Bay, Tales from the Loop, and Epyllion. You may know me as Riot Bonezerker, tiefling ranger from the family-friendly podcast d20 Dames, host of Jen Vaughn's Big Dun-Jen Show or Fiasco Friday on Roll20. When I'm not playing or designing games, I'm drawing comics and illustrating books.
GM Style
The story and characters come first to me as a GM. You have a good time by being engrossed in the storytelling and/or learning a new game system is what matters to me! My expertise is introducing people to new systems in a gradual way so they aren't inundated by rules before our first session. Are you the quiet person in your group? Don't worry, I got you because I spent years as the loud player and will make sure you get your time to shine. Rules that are unique to a system are often followed but the 'rule of cool' also reigns supreme, players and story first! Games will also lean into what the group wants but puzzles are also another specialty of mine. Be thankful this is online otherwise you might be dissecting a paper-mache animal to find clues inside! I run games both via video or voice only (play by post possible too). My tables use a consent form, lines and veils, X cards, and a post-session check-in (aka stars and wishes, roses and thorns etc) so that we can make our sessions better together! Player safety is a goal for my tables although your characters might not always be safe! You do not have to do voices but I'm that annoying person who does!

Proficiencies

Creativity
Inclusive
Teacher
I'm a newbie and Jen was really friendly, easy-going, and fun. Since I'm a beginner, sometimes I may have gone "off script" but Jen would expertly allow my creativity to flow whilst navigating me back to the main mission/focus. She is a true creative but not snobby and takes requests and ideas easily. She also is always conscientious about keeping things equitable and takes care to ensure everyone feels included and heard.
