About Josh Ervin (Ironic Hero Games)
I've been playing and running RPGs for 30 years. My first priority is providing a fun, safe, collaborative environment where we work together to create a story where YOUR characters are the protagonists. I have a background in theatre and creative writing, and I rely heavily on improvisation. RPGs are the most fun when nobody knows what is going to happen next - that's why we play to find out. How Josh Ervin (Ironic Hero Games) runs games
I run highly-improvisational games. I prefer to make characters together so I can personalize the adventure to your character's goals and background. I believe RPGs are the most fun when everyone is surprised where the story goes (including the GM). When running D&D, I tend to make use of random tables to throw curveballs at myself and the players. My games are usually light in theme, full of action and adventure. The goal is for everyone is laughing and having a good time. If you come away with some deep insight into the human condition, it was probably by accident. I make games a safe space where the number one priority is that everyone enjoys themselves and everyone gets a chance to shine. Safety Tools are always in affect, and I try to foster an open environment where people feel free to express themselves, try hare-brained schemes, and act silly. It seems to be working.
