About Mike

Hey there! My name’s Mike, I’m a Storyteller, owner and Founder of the Actual Play Channel Ichor and Ink. Who focuses mainly on horror stories in and around the World of Darkness. If you’d like to delve into the worlds I’ve created such as Nightrunners and Epic Vampire the Masquerade and Cyberpunk cross over this is the right place to be. I can offer one shots and three shots and have no problem expanding our stories to what you guys love! You want Dark Ages? Modern? Victorian? I got you! I just ask that you be ready to be scared! I will tailor my games to what my players want and maybe something they need but just don’t quite know it. My sessions come with a session 0 of course in where we will discuss everything you’d like and want. Veils and Line and of course character concepts!

My favorite system of all Time is

It would have to be the World of Darkness not just the newer V5, W5 and H5 but going all the way back to First Edition, Second, Revised and 20th. Both from a mechanics point of view and lore aspect. I am a massive lore nerd.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

I decided to ask some of my players and their responses ranged from. Inventive, Creative, Fun World Builder, Invested, Attentive Dedicated, Detailed, Protective Unflinching, Visionary, Provocative Yes they made me blush.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Normally producing, scheduling or editing actual plays. That is of course whenever I am not playing in them!

How Mike runs games

I thrive on Roleplay watching my players interact with the world is without a doubt one of the best feelings any Storyteller can have. I craft plots and secrets to keep my players on their toes and meld in combat that won’t drag down the play but make it feel natural, hard hitting and intense. I specialise in horror, personal, romantic, cosmic and the supernatural if there are themes my players want to explore then I am more than happy to open that pandora’s box for them and let them run rampant!

My games focus on...

What my players want to explore. Normally at a session 0, I will ask my players what they want to experience, what they don’t and build from there. I will say though. Horror. It’s what I specialise in.

Rules are...

A suggestion and are certainly not written in stone. Of course these rules apply mostly to mechanics. Rules however on table safety are something I take very seriously.

When it comes to voices

I do my best, but most of the time I find that it’s more the inflection, the tone used by SPCs or NPCs that truly give the added effect. A relaxed and measured tone can be far more terrifying that someone shouting and raving.

Mike's ideal table

My tables tend to be a mixture of of styles, I try my best to accommodate each member of the table with in-depth discussion during character creation and further discussion as a group during session 0. As I specialise in horror I like my players to feel comfortable and safe and in that way able to explore darker aspects of TTRPGS in a safe environment.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table

Horror, action, roleplaying, exploring your character and even learning.

I love it when a player

Really dives into their character. As I’ve said before roleplay to me is one of the best aspects of TTRPGS. I also love it when players attempt to go outside of the box and come up with inventive solutions to problems during play.

I think it's a red flag when players...

Constantly argue with their Storyteller or other Players over RAW at the table. These sorts of discussions can be done at the end of the game but certainly not during session as it can ruin the moment.
