About Latron
Hey! I'm Latron. I've been dming for about 5 years. I'm a massive nerd. I play video games, dungeons and dragons obviously, and I'm really big on superheroes. I've dm'ed (and also been a player with) for the same group that whole time. I've recently come to the realization that I put in more effort when it comes to scheduling and playing the game. I was ok with it at first but they showed me that they dont really see my effort and them not acknowledging the effort and not putting in any themselves makes me not wanna play with them as often if at all anymore. Hence why I'm here(I only recently slowed our play down) I got big into dnd watch other major campaigns(crit role, d20, the weirdlings) and then i just found my group and started playing.

I ran my first game...
during covid year. I got a group of people I wasn't even fully friends with yet with no connection to dnd to have a long term campaign with me. I somehow got them immersed in the world and we played consistently for a good year. I thoroughly enjoyed introducing them to the game of dnd.
My favorite books are
Fantasy leady towards mythology books. I love mythological stories. When I read The Kane Chronicles for the first time, those books thoroughly changed my life.
When I'm not running games I'm...
watching movies, playing video games, or working. I obviously session plan, but that goes without saying. I love rpgs, any story based game really. I love movie of all kinds but I am definitely partial towards superhero films.
How Latron runs games
My players will joke about my combat preference but it isnt a joke. I definitely lean towards combat heavy campaigns. I try to do a thing where we do 1 session combat and then 1 rp, or simply equal numbers but it usually leans combative. I try my hardest and usually succeed at making good, fun, tactical combat that aren't just hack and slashes. Some of them are but i try to be entertaining and add character to my fights. I definitely love rp though. Some of my favorite sessions were rp heavy out of the ones that I've dm'ed or played. I'm also not half bad at voices. I really like heavily incorporating the players/characters into the main plot of the story. i usually have a base outline for a campaign and then once the party is made, I change things to fit within their backstories and whatnot.

I deal with rules issues by...
looking up the most trustworthy source I can find. THE ALMIGHTY JEREMY CRAWFORD. Or I'll just find something we can all agree on. Dnd is one of the most commented on games so finding common ground should be easy.
My favorite trope is...
Found Family and Trauma Bonding. Seeing a group of strangers experience a connection due to the traumatic experience I put them through is one of my favorite parts of being a dm.
Rules are...
suggestions mostly. I don't mind looking up certain rules if need be, but I would much rather let Rule-Of-Cool reign supreme. As long as it isn't an egregious rule bend/break, it works for me.
Latron's ideal table
My ideal table doesn't really have a player limit. I think any player that can immerse themselves in a story and involve themselves involuntarily into the world will fit my games well. I try to always stay in character but I love a good joke that just breaks the whole table so humor is encouraged. I didn't give this npc a funny name for no reason, yk? The perfect balance of seriousness/tacticalness when it comes to combat and rp and humor all around would make this my ideal table.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
Engaging combats. I try to reinvent my combats and make them as fun as I can as they are half of the game. I see so many dms have boring hack/slash combats, and while that will happen because not every combat can be innovative, most to all of your big fights should be innovative imo.
I think metagaming...
is an all around bad. Most metagamers do it unapologetically and aren't good people while they do it. I understand that sometimes it must be done to progress the story due to players not communicating things that they should but I'd rather have a player communication problem over a serial metagamer.
I think min/maxing...
is not a problem at all. Having an effective character in some regard should not stop you from playing the game in a good way and being a good person while you do it. Any dm decent at their craft can balance the campaign for the min/maxed pc as well as the other pcs.
