About Keenan Halpin
Hail, travelers. I'm Keenan, a DM based out of eastern Pennsylvania. D&D has become a passion since learning about it, and I've found DMing to be such a gratifying activity, weaving stories with players and facilitating their epic quests. I'm a long-time gamer and creator, and the fruits of my labors have resulted in a narrative world that I am writing books in and making my own TTRPG set in that world called GRAIL, which I will GM for as well eventually. I prefer high-narrative, gritty, and semi-hardcore campaigns, highlighting risk and character involvement/development, but I also run lighthearted and low-risk heroic games as well, and this is most commonly what I end up running. I aim to make my table a safe space for players of color, players of neurodiversity, and LGBTQIA+ players. If you have questions, please feel free to contact me on here or on Discord (if you message me on Discord, please include your name and mention you're from StartPlaying). Ah, finished your mead and out the door already, traveler? No matter; such is the way of the adventurer. Thanks for stopping by my page, and I look forward to playing with you.

How Keenan Halpin runs games
I have a DMing style that has two sides: "rules lawyer", and "damn that's cool I'll allow it". There are rules for the game we are playing, and general gameplay will follow them. But if something is awesome, makes sense, and follows solid RP, then I will always allow the attempt. We are, after all, playing a game to have fun. I am heavy on roleplay, and to facilitate this I employ a wide range of character voices including both sexes and culturally distinct accents. I prefer rich stories with interesting, compelling plots, and really seek to involve players and their backstory to make them feel like their choices truly matter. I am a fan of strategy games and I will absolutely leverage cunning and brutal tactics to bring threat and danger to the player characters so that their victories feels all the more gratifying. My personal preference is for semi-hardcore campaigns with a lot of risk, narrative development, and roleplaying, but I am also capable of running more casual, low-risk, and heroic content as well, and this is most commonly what I end up running. Finally, I'm a firm believer that in order to lead, you must first follow/serve. If the style I employ is not quite to your group's liking, I am always willing to learn and adapt. Lets forge a legend together!
