About James Hebert

My name is James and I'm from New Orleans, LA. I'm a long-time veteran of tabletop RPG gaming, having started back during Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd Edition. The Player's Handbook for that one had the guy with the winged helmet charging forward on horseback and he looked like serious business. I started DMing at the same time that I started playing. I think this was because I was the only one who read enough to know the rules. Recently, I've been dipping into a variety of game types. I try to borrow a little bit of flavor from each of them. I love storytelling and my favorite kinds of games are ones that feature some drama, some cinematic action, a good amount of plot.

How James Hebert runs games

I like storytelling. I encourage the same with my gaming groups. I like to give everything its own unique feel so that I can provide as much immersion as I can muster. I'd prefer not to linger on book-keeping or things that can be done between sessions. I hope to make encounters memorable, make betrayals hurt, make victories sweet. All of that being said, I'm good with tactics and I'm knowledgeable on the rules, so players that enjoy combat will also have a fun time with me at their table.
