About me

Greetings Adventurers, Fellow Travelers, True-Believers, and all those in-between!! My name is James Hickson. I am a father, husband, teacher, aspiring voice actor, and podcaster. Oh right, I also happen to be a Game Master who has been playing for over twenty years, and running games almost as long. I have been the sponsor of my high school's Tabletop Gaming Club since 2017, and have hence had the privilege of introducing many players to the hobby. Grognard and rookie alike are more than welcome at my table! My table is LGBTQ+ friendly and practices safety rules, which we can go over further at the beginning of our game. I have been told that I excel at pulp adventure, superheroes, and horror games. Being a history teacher, I love a good historical setting (Shall we have tea with Queen Victoria on the moon or just punch some Nazis today? Both!? Well... why not!?). My favorite system is Savage Worlds, but I also run the new Marvel Multiverse Roleplaying Game (Drawing on a near encyclopedic knowledge of the Marvel Universe. Did I mention that mine was a Marvel Horror Podcast?) the Ghostbusters RPG, and of course, Dungeons & Dragons. I'm off of work for the summer and hence am offering games during what most would consider "work hours". With all that out the way, draw for initiative and drop me a line! GM Style

The purpose of the game is everyone at the table has fun. My job as the GM isn't to bedevil my players, but to make sure they have fun. By the same token, I believe it is the job of the players to take part in collaborative storytelling, and help to make sure others at the table (even the GM) are having fun as well. I love doing voices that let me ham it up. I love roleplay that helps immerse you in the world. I love creative, engaging combat that is fast, furious, and fun (iykyk).
